WHAT IS THE INBOX USED FOR?

All new messages will appear in your inbox. Once you have read a message you have two options:

1) If you no longer want to receive messages on this topic then click on eye icon This will remove the PM completely from your inbox.

2) If you still want to receive messages relating to that PM, then click the envelope icon () This will move the message into your "watching" folder. Any message in the watching folder that has a new comment posted on it will mean you get sent an email and it will appear back in your DSI inbox.

3) If you have a PM which has many replies and you want to be able to find the PM easily, then add this to your favourites by clicking on the star icon () at the bottom of the PM.

HOW DO I SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE?

Go to chat > all chat and at the bottom of the page you will be able to post a new topic. Below your coments there is a Show advanced options menu. If you click this you will have the choice to send a public chat or a private chat.

You will also see there are new options to send a News item.

HOW DO I INVITE BUDDIES TO A PM?

When postig a new PM (see above) once you have gone to the advanced optins menu below the comment box, there is an option to invite your buddies.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL MY OLD PM'S?

If you go into your "watching" folder you will find all of your old PM's.

HOW DO I DELETE A MESSAGE?

You dont. To remove items from your inbox, click the inbox icon. To never recieve an email about a message again (I.E if its spam) - click the eyeball icon to unwatch it.

This means that messages that arent in you inbox can still be watched... so when new stuff is posted on them, they return to your inbox. See question 1 for more details on this.

HOW DO YOU ADD ALL BUDDIES RATHER THAN INDIVIDUALLY TO A PM?

Click the MORE button under the images.

HOW DO I SEE THE NEWEST COMMENT FIRST WITHOUT HAVING TO SCROLL?

In your inbox, when any new comments are posted, click on NEW and this will take you directly to the comments which you have not already read.

HOW DO I ADD MY OWN GROUP?

Go to My Groups and you have the option to add your own group. You can also view which groups you are already a member of.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I'VE BEEN ADDED TO OTHER GROUPS AND I DID NOT SEE THE EMAIL?

Go to My Groups and you will see a Invite Comment saying "You've been invited to the groups below:"
You can click to either accept the invite of reject the invite.


HOW DO I EXIT A GROUP THAT I AM ALREADY A MEMBER OF?

Go to My Groups and you will see all the groups which you are a member of. Click on the group which you no longer want to be a member of and there wil be an option to "exit the group"


HOW DO I INVITE BUDDIES TO A GROUP?

Go to their profile page and click on invite buddy to group.

HOW DO I SPOT MYSELF?

Click on the photo which you want to spot yourself on and below the photo there will be a comment saying "I've been spotted"
Click on this comment to spot yourself.

HOW DO I SEND A PRIVATE MESSAGE ON A PHOTO?

Click on the photo and go to Advanced options
This will give you the option to send a private message (for those of you who want to slag someone off...lol) or a public one.

WHY IS IT THAT IF YOU GO INTO A MESSAGE, READ IT, THEN CLICK ON THE INBOX OF FAVOURITES AGAIN IT STILL SHOWS UP AS "NEW", AS IF YOU HAVEN'T LOOKED AT THE LAST UPDATE?

This is because there is a 5 minute time out on the "NEW" label.

Click on the More option and you will be able tio invite all buddies

For future reference, all new messages get automatically watched and added to your inbox. You can find a way to make the "Favourites" folder behave in a similar way to your old "Private messages" page here, that is chronologically ordered by last new message.

Not quite - it's ordered by when the message went into the inbox.

so if you click on the envelope to get it out of your inbox and then it gets updated again, what order will it pop back in?

I'm finding the order of the inbox very confusing - it's hard to find those messages that are completely brand new without trawling through everything that is in there......

i cant use it its totally confused me..
and im sure it will only get worse if i come on here tiered or late at night or even worse drunk?

If you click the envelope to remove something from your inbox, then someone posts a new message, it goes back into the inbox at the top.

Go to the "all chat" page, and go to the "add a topic" panel at the bottom. Open the "advanced options" bit by ticking the tick-box. Click the "Private - only people who have been invited can read this topic" button and select your buddies using the buddy selector that appears below. To select all your buddies, you can click the "More..." button.

You can now invite people to a public topic (not just private ones), so if it's not private information, there's no need to make it private. Open the advanced options and click "invite my buddies to this topic" to invite people to a public topic.

I have got to grips wiv the site now and its ok..... you guys r workin on the email alert thing so thats cool.... youre puttin the pics n stuff back somehow which is cool, and the spotted count is back.... also cool....

But I really cant get used to the chat bein on the left....

the idea is that you try and keep your inbox pretty much empty

I do keep my inbox empty... but my msn, im gettin like 70 emails a day lol

I prefer the inbox on here, let me know as soon as youve figured how to turn off the email alerts....

Emails to say that I've joined a group, and gallery uploads, or if someone adds me to their buddies... Those ones I still wanna recieve, it's just the ones to say 'new topic' or 'new comment' that I wanna turn off....
