England squad v Brazil
Nice, one a personal note, to see Warnock back in. Especially seeing as Wayne Bridge was singled out for being shite on MOTD on Saturday. Cahill was dump on Saturday, very over rated. I can't speak for Huddlestone and Jenas though. Spurs fans, enlighten me.

England squad: Foster (Manchester United), Green (West Ham), Hart (Birmingham City - loan); Bridge, Lescott (both Manchester City), Brown (Manchester United), Cahill (Bolton), Johnson (Liverpool), Terry (Chelsea), Upson (West Ham), Warnock (Aston Villa); Barry, Wright-Phillips (both Manchester City), Beckham* (Los Angeles Galaxy), Carrick (Manchester United), Huddlestone, Jenas (both Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Milner, Young (both Aston Villa); Bent (Sunderland), Crouch, Defoe (both Tottenham), Rooney (Manchester United).

I am not surprised by your response, Villa fans tend to be England supporters...much like Forest etc. Is that because you dont have that much to cheer about with your teams?

Yes, that's exactly it. We like getting dissapointed by two teams.

Villa fans tend to be England supporters.

That's funny, I thought most Englishmen tended to be England supporters.

Coupled with an inherent patriotism that comes when your teams dont venture further than Cornwall or Newcastle on their 'european' tours.

I too support Villa ahead of England. It doesn't mean I shouldn't care about England or write off international friendlies as a waste of time though.

so if a couple of your players are in an England game and come back injured and therefore not available for your club for 2 or more games, you still say that friendlies are not a waste of time?

The premier league was designed to help the national team , fuck the clubs, the country takes presidence , who cares if your players come back injured or tired, its about england trying to win the world cup.
The brazil game gives the fringe players a last cahnce to get a foot on the plane, clubs are irrelevant.

Thats fair enough, but when did the tide change from it all being about the england team to it now being about clubs over country?

Absolutely. It would be even more ridiculous to just play competitive qualifiers out of season. We wouldnt even qualify for the world cups then!

Then again, for Utd fans thats not a bad thing as they can compete in more pointless close season world club trophies (beach volleyball tournaments).

Injuries are just part of the game and they can happen at any time. In training, a friendly, international or domestically. I don't really worry too much about injuries its up to the clubs to have a strong enough squad to cope with it.

Well the Liverpool supporters need not worry as Glen Johnson has now dropped out with a "slight injury".

I'm sure it would be a lot less pointless if your team was in it.

I'm still not sure what makes it pointless. I remember Beatz coming out with something once about how he only regards a competition worthwhile if you're playing against your peers.

Well we played against the best teams in England and beat them. So then we moved on to the best teams in Europe and beat them so naturally it was then on to the best teams in the world and guess what.... we beat them too. Sounds very worthwhile to me

As for England players moaning about being tired. Fuck off. When i was 23 / 24 i had a full time job, trained twice and week and played 1 game on a Saturday and 1 game on a Sunday. These guys are at the peak of physical fitness and moan about having to travel a bit and play 3 games in the space of 2 weeks. And of course get paid 50 odd thousand pound to do it. It must be so hard for them

Shut your moaning and get on with it.

Injuries are unlucky. There's not a lot you can do about it
