Eh up. Where's the thread for this then? Just been reading the preview on GAME and wondered what the early reviews say?

I left the vault at nighttime

it was the middle of night when i left 101 too. made it even more bleak! didn't know if it was ever gonna get light.

I did Springfield school

i went there first too, but no sign of Principal Skinner. ;)

Ok, so glad I got this game for Christmas now. Still gutted I didn't blow up Megaton, but at least I got a place to store stuff early on. Atmospheric as hell, especially wandering around the gutted supermarket or seeing super mutants sniping at raiders from opposing banks of the river.

I love how easy it is to wander off mission and find yourself going up again fuck hard enemies when you've only just got assault weapons. Think I'll have to leave the Home Guard Depot for later.

Out of interest, what skills would people recommend raising first?

Depends, they are all important. I didn't bother with sneak, unarmed, melee or barter. Speech, lockpick and science are really useful and try to get big guns high early in the game, it makes it a lot easier.

i went high speech, barter, lockpick and repair. Made things so much more easy. I also went a woman with black widow so i can get 10% more damage on men and when talking to them get them to like me and give me stuff quicker

If you're not bothered about karma you can just kill them and take it. It's not as fun though.

Quality game but it has to many areas you can't walk through, like in the downtown area you have to go all the way around some buildings.
Anybody know where the Behamoths are? I want to get some action in with my fat boy.
Also, how much main questing is there after Vault 112? I've played about 12 hours of gameplay and it doesn't feel like I have done enough sidequesting.

small guns, speech and lockpicking or science (depends if you prefer locks or computers, you have to aim at maxing one of them) are by far the most important skills in the game. repair and barter are good to pump into too. big guns is just OK. the biggest mistake you could make is to try to even all skills out. bloody mess perk is fun.

Use the lock picking skill. I find that hacking the computers is a waste of time.

Why?

because it requires you to think? :P ...unlike lockpicking which is very easy to master ;)

In Fallout, computer terminals are only used as essential items in the storymode, whereas lockpicking is used on tons of different things like lockers and houses giving you acsess to much needed ammo and stimpacks.

I only really hacked the terminals for the achievment but you can unlock some safes with lots of mulah in them.

I've only found one safe so far and I was able to lockpick it.

I just like the word-guessing minigame although it is buggy. the bracket-hints which supposed appear only before words that aren't correct, sometimes appear before which are correct.

This game is just stupidly immersive. I'm trying to clear my cold before New Years, but I'm up all night playing this fucking thing.

Just did that fire ant clearout which is the first real challenge I've had and got sod fuck all out of it because I was nice rather than a cunt. Now I've got fuck all bottle cap mines left.

I bought this game just before Christmas. I wasn't going to get it due to being quite low on cash, but I am pleased I did decide to get it.

If I can't figure out the word, I just start the hacking over again and keep guessing until I get it correct. :P

Also, how much main questing is there after Vault 112?

Fucking loads!

That's the boring way though, take 3 random guesses, exit, go back in and try again. You can do it with lockpicks too, if you break 3- exit and try again, you never permanently break a lock that way.

I don't get that. I mean, I came across 112 when I was travelling to that bridge settlement, delivering a letter. I like how open the game is, but I almost miss a bit of a prompt sometimes. I've only just come across Rivet City and I'll speak to someone and already be able to answer 2 or 3 of their questions because I've been wandering about e.g. the android mission. Think I'll just find everything possible before continuing the main quest.

Just got the power armour, but can't use it.....Whoop.
