PS3 con!!!!
I have a PS3 have had for a while. It has always played PS2 games.I use it for quiz games like BUZZ and the like. Anyway I tried to load BUZZ the other night and got a message that the system does not support PS2 games. WTF?

I can only imagine one of the updates as caused this.

Anyone else?

Mine never has played ps2 games, it was only the original ps3's with the larger memory that did allow this to my mind. Did you have one of those?

COD6 forced a firmware upgrade to version 3.01 so (paranoid) i just tried to couple of PS2 games quickly (Okami and B-Boy, thanks for asking) and they play fine...

i've got a launch model 60gig console - now with 320gig upgrade. B)

quiz games like BUZZ

perhaps someone at Sony added a sneaky line of code to the firmware to block only casual games. ;)

Can you explain that to me.

i was just being silly (and snobbish) by suggesting that your last console update might've been written to block "party" games and only allow "proper" games.

i do feel for you cos, although i do still have a PS2 if i need it, i wouldn't like to lose the abilty to play classic PS2 games on my PS3. i did try googling your problem when you posted originally but only found people complaining about the lack of backwards compatibility, not about its removal, and several Q&A threads confirming that the PS2 Buzz game and controllers do work with the PS3.
