Xbox 360 - HD DVD's?
Just found out that Microsoft sell a seperate HD DVD drive to connect to your xbox? Im assuming that the 360 doesnt play them in any form of HD then? WTF is the score with that? HD gaming as sandard but you got to pay extra if you want to watch movies in HD?

Is this the case on all 360 consoles or just early ones or what?

Fucking hell im getting confused now. Can a 360 play a standard dvd in HD? Can any console / computer play a standard dvd in hd or does the disc have to be an hddvd?

the xbox has a HD upscaling processor, so if you play a DVD it will look better than on a normal DVD player, not as good as proper HD but still Very good, i watched die hard 4 the other day and the quality was awesome couldnt tell the difference between a blue ray disc.

Funnily enough the 1st dvd i watched on my xbox with an HD tv was Die Hard - and it looked superb. Just bought myself a Samsung 37" HD TV so think i'll whack a dvd on now! It upscales any dvd then yeah?

Yes, any DVD.

I don't have my Xbox 360 hooked up to surround sound, so I don't see the point in me watching any DVDs on it.

Our DVD player upscales any DVD we put in it, so that's another reason why I don't bother watching any on my 360.

Sony paid very big buck$ to make sure that it's Blu-Ray who comes out victorious from the format war 2 years ago, because imagine if it didn't. That would be THE final blow to still struggling PS3 back then.

Indeed.

I've never watched a HD-DVD and never plan on doing so either. What's the point when Blu-Ray was a sure winner from the start?
