Love Sunsets and this is a particularly fine example.

Makes me think of time spent at Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza.

Nice one Pharaoh-Zulu. Good skills!!

Your little corner of the world Pharaoh helped provide the inspiration for a super famous, almost seminal, House music tune:

'Little Fluffy Clouds'
by
THE ORB
released in
(1990)

The Orb were an Ambient House group who Pete Tong regularly played on his weekly Radio show. The lyrics of the tune mentioned "The Arizona skies going on forever"

Your Photograph of the sunset, and your comments, made me think of that tune again. I remember 1990 was a time when we still thought House Music could change the world and "Little Fluffy Clouds" really caught the mood of that time. Good memories.

If you Goggle the phrase:

THE ORB - LITTLE FLUFFY CLOUDS

You will get a YouTube link to the tune and the Music Video, which has clips of the Arizona desert and skies.

It's a beautiful Music Video.

Note the tracklist. I can't even tell you how many versions/remixes of LFC that I have. Thought you might like that mix. :)

The skies of the southwest truly ARE spectacular.

Cheers!

Love that Mix Nick. There's a lot of styles in there but you have blended them all together very skillfully. A great listen. Great DJ skills.

Am just listening to 'The Orchestrated Mix' and I am loving that also - if you can reproduce it in a Nightclub on a big soundsystem then I reckon it would create a great atmosphere, and really take the crowd on a musical journey. I'm just sat here drinking a cup of coffee and it is making me euphoric. I reckon it would translate very well to a London club.

The skies of the southwest truly ARE spectacular.

You're lucky there, it's always raining in London. Great Nightclubs but the weather is shocking.

(sorry I took so long to get back to you, but I was on 'early shifts' all week and it was just eat, sleep and work - and I wanted time to really listen to your mixes)

Many thanks, Russ! It's always nice when someone really gives one or any of my mixes an active listen.

"Orchestrated" was made with a pair of turntables and a crappy 2-channel mixer with no EQs. I recorded the master to HiFi VHS long before it was ever digitized and put on the web. I'm glad it's standing the test of time. It is definitely the sort of set I'd like to play on a big system with a populated dancefloor (somewhere in Europe would be nice). Perhaps someday...

The first mix you listened to ("Cookoff") was made for the Mixed In Key DJ Contest. I didn't win, but I made it to the top 20 (out of 960), so I guess that's good.

Anyway, in addition to the SoundCloud, you can find all my other mixes here:
