What is G-REX on the DEX?

After first discovering the hard dance scene in 2001 at Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Gareth was astounded to see the levels of emotion and raw energy, created on the dance floor by the Djs. Soon after that event, he invested in a basic Dj package and began to learn how to harness the energy of Hard Dance. As a regular clubber at Promise, in Newcastle, it gave Gareth the opportunity to watch some of the best Hard Dance Djs play their trade every week, and also find himself at after parties where playing to a small crowd became infectious to him.

Soon after, Gareth got his first residency at Disctraction in Liverpool, after handing out promotional cds while clubbing. He has built up a good following and respect of the crowd there, mixing high energy, driving dance, with his own crowd interaction playing a huge part of his sets. With great hard dance tracks becoming fewer and far between, Gareth decided to take up the challenge of engineering his own tracks. He has been working intensively throughout 2006 on his music production skills, and has finally got new tracks ready to be played in his upcoming sets.

These include a bouncy elecro hard dance track and a huge riff and vocal hard trancer, both tracks have just been signed up to Warp Drive Digital label. Goodgreefs summer event gave Gareth the opportunity to play to an audience of die hard clubbers from across the north, and he didn't disappoint. Even though his set time put him against the talents of Halliwell and Gaz West, he still had a room packed with support, and delivered another trademark high energy set that left most clubbers in need of a rest. 2007 has seen Gareth start co-running a new hard dance night in Durham called 'Elements', the launch night was a great success and has had really good reviews. The second date has just been announced, and it looks like the hard dance scene in the north has a new night here to stay.
