What is Gospel?

Gospel was originally formed in the Isles of Fiji. The creators, Samuel Bee and Rico e Liso were travelling on a world DJ'ing tour and crossed path in Nadi.

After throwing a few smaller house parties in Nadi, the word soon spread amongst the worldwide travellers and also the very friendly locals. Gospel soon became the only place to be in the night time unitl sunrise with pure house music until the sunrays just lifted over the horizon. The Gospel paties first formulated with a large stereo sound system which the guys rigged up and played their tracks on. Samuel and Rico then shipped across all their equipment and pumped up the live beach with strictly house sounds.

Gospel very soon became the party talked about across the whole main island and the little isles which were just off Fiji. Beachcomber island which is known to be the party island of Fiji, would ship all their guys across to come to the Gospel parties and return in the morning with slightly drunk local Fijian boat drivers!

Within a month Gospel events were being held every week in Nadi and Suva the capital. Samuel Bee & Rico e Liso then moved on with their individual touring companies and finished off their DJ'ing work. Both travelling to the US, Fiji, NZ, OZ, and Asia.

Rico held a strong residency in Christchurch, New Zealand at a bar called Foam. A really nice venue which Rico took through the roof because it was a totally new sound created by a few genres from the UK being evolved by a passionate DJ. The bar had never really experienced a proper funky house DJ and he played his residency there for some time. Samuel travelled and settled down in Melbourne for 7 months and became very good friends with a sound engineer. He ended up getting involved with the biggest Soulful house night there called Yum Yum which is headed up by Chris NG. Yum Yum hosted some top quality house events with Soul Central, Ron Carroll, Deepswing, Andy Ward, Groove Junkies and London legends, Bobby and Steve.

Rico and Samuel became detached due to touring schedules but vowed to bring the Gospel flavour back to the UK. On their return they formed Gopsel in Cardiff, a haven for house music but was very quickly snapped up with a residency in London due to the rift they caused in the underground scene. Now hosting events at numerous venues, they have managed to gather a following in London which really creates the Gospel atmoshphere.

Its all about house, mind body and soul music!
