Old people.

Now I know everyone has grandmas and grandpas and I love my solitary nanny very much but:

1. They should not be allowed to travel fucking anywhere! I had to go to my mums with my gran last year and it was a nightmare. She packed her fucking passport in her hold luggage, she refused to take her shoes off when asked to by armed police (??!!) and then nearly missed the plane as she was 'lost' in the perfume shop.

2. They should be banned from the city centre unless its an emergency. I dont believe I have ever seen an old person with any urgency to shop in my life. This is especially annoying in the really narrow walkway near Zavvi where they seem to congregate to chat and look into shops they dont even fucking intend to go into. I have 20 minutes on my break and I need to get somewhere quick. I swear the other day I saw a snail trail past me the other day whilst I heard how Audrey isnt 'getting out much these days after her veruca burst'

3. Buying christmas presents. Last year was the first time I had managed to persuade my nan to get me vouchers. Before that all I had were mittens or half a shirt, which I then had to fucking wear everytime I went round there. It was half finished and had holes. Now Im not being ungrateful but even my mum said it was shit, but there I was in a posh restaurant wearing basically a shawl looking like a twat....

Dont get me wrong I am not generalising here. On the whole old people are lovely but its like football fans. A small minority spoil it for all the others.

AAh she sounds lovely, I will take her for you next time (so long as she isnt at the pooing pants stage. sorry couldnt spell incontinant.

By the time I was 19 I didnt have any grandparents alive & to this day i still very much miss my Nanny. So treasure her while she is here.

As I say not all of them are. Just a few let down the rest. And my grandma is made of diamonds. She is tough. Four armed police telling her to take off her shoes and she still stayed strong!

Really agree with that. OAP's/grandparents are annoying, but I really miss mine.

Depends what they're like ..I really miss mine too. I was quite young when they died but I still remember the genuine warmth love and kindness I felt when ever I saw them. They were proper Londoners from Islington, not the arrogant loud type you seem to get these days. They were street wise enough alright but with manners, principles and kindness and with so much sincerity and not bullshit for personal gain. The world was a better place with them in it and I miss them so much...

Oh dear - I`m still shocked at seeing a COACH load in Morrisons car park @ Riverside one day - my first thought was "god - there shipping them in now - just for our pleasure!!!"

I`ve spent most of my working life with old people - some are nice - and others seem to think you owe them a living(the worst type I have ever come across have been old woman who never had kids and were spoilt rotten all their lives by their long suffering husbands(who incedently have been long dead by the time I have gone in to look after them!)...

only ever grew up(no comments please) with one grandparent because of death and divorce...maybe thats why I spent the best part of 20 years looking after old codgers - who knows?
