H2O RaviNEYE-The Interview:)
The Interview - MC H20- The Entrepreneurial Entertainer! IT'S ANOOOOTHER ONE!!- Just for YOU !!;)

As featured in the latest, issue 35 of The Ravin Eye magazine. For you the raver!:) Also note, MC H2O will have a limited amount of this issue - to give out at his next up & coming event *see bottom of interview* to give away on the night, so keep ya RAVIN EYE OUT FOR IT!!!....;)

To the highs of Southampton- to the outer limits of London. The hardcore as we all know is wide spread, so much so that I have been lucky enough to get out on occasion and check out what is going on out side of the capital.

Inside online we all have seen the rise of one very special U.K Hardcore MC.
The average human brain is 77 - 78% water. This fresh faced and enthusiastic MC is named just that, so once again to Bristol we go, playing host to some of the largest, and most recognised hardcore parties to boast- introducing MC H2O

Hello bro, and I do have to say - deep respect for taking part and your time today- POW to you!!!

2007- for you was when it all began man. Please tell us basically- how, when and why the mic it was that you took flight too?

"It all started at a little well known club called Castros. Promoters of “Avinit” gave me a set in the basement and I was well happy. That was my first ever paid booking and got a lot of good feedback. Before that set I always used the name =2 0 to mc in my bedroom or just at little private parties. Eventually I built up the courage to ask someone if I could have a 5 minute blast on there set and it went from there. I love the buzz of getting on the stage and seeing everyone smiling and having a wicked time!"

Two years as an MC and you have literally shot up from up and coming to one of the largest and most recognised faces in Bristol- in your own words how does this feel, & how did it happen so fast!! =)

"Its truly wicked mate. Its such a buzz when people know you as your MC name as well as your real name. not just in raves, it happens in the town centre even for the local football league I play for. At first I just promoted myself as much as I could asking promoters if I could have a free set and take it from there. From there bookings flew in and now its got to the point where I’ve stopped putting my bookings on my profiles as people will see my name on flyers. Everyone who knows me will know I have the gift of the gab so I’ve put it to good use ha!!"

Could you tell us please about your musical influences - and was it hardcore from the start?- What first got you raving!!? And also your musical influences for and on the microphone!?

"I listened to hardcore from when I was 14. i.e. Dreamscape, Helter Skelter. I used to listen to MC’s like Majika and Stixman back in the day and I always thought it would be wicked to do that. Then storm came onto the scene. He was like a breath of fresh air. Even now his lyrics are amazing. I went to a night called club dreamscape in Milton Keynes when I was 15 and a very young Whizzkid came on stage and totally smashed it and from there I’ve listened to both MC’s who have very different styles but are the best at what they do."

Biggin up the Bristol scene once again!- You hold many residencies in around Bristol- please tell us about some: Stay Hardcore & Reactivation- what makes these nights really- ‘BANG’?!!

"A lot of small nights that I used to mc to have folded due to the massive line ups from other promoters. I MC’d at the first Reactivation which hit capacity at Lakota Bristol and picked up a residency for that. Then I MC’d for the first ever hardcore event at 1 of the biggest clubs in Bristol …Syndicate. These nights are well crafted to suit every1s needs and the promoters H.D.Q, Naughty and Reegs put a lot of effort into these nights. From dancers to stalls , to lighting to inside fireworks. These=2 0nights are something that me and all my mates look forward to!!!!"

You have played host to many, many of the largest D.J names to grace us - do you have a favourite or a D.J that you work with on a regular basis?

"I’ve mentioned them in the last answer but H.D.Q are always god to mc to. They both like the same style in music as me. Even though when I first MC’d to them they told me not to mc as much as I did. I did think why they said that but then I found out they didn’t have a monitor so they couldn’t hear themselves mixing ha-ha. I’ve MC’d to Styles and Gammer at a night called Fear the NRG. It was nice to meet them and I love the music they make!"

Staying with this- do have a preferred hardcore sound to MC to?- You know like Happy (vocally) or harder- even Freeform sounds?!

"I’m sorry you freeform heads but its all about the cheesy stuff for me. Tunes like Heartbeatz and 'You’re my Angel' swayed hardcore back in my favour and ever since then the music has been wicked. Anything that makes the crowd sing along at the same time must be good!!"

Allot of today’s MC’s are putting their voice and lyrics to hardcore tracks. Do you have any plans to do this- and if so who would it be with!?

" I’ve been asked by a few people to do something like this. At the moment I want to push MCing at different nights, write more new material and generally push my self to make more of a name outside Bristol. I’m always up for suggestions though. "

Can you please offer some words of advice and encouragement to any new up and coming MC’s out there?

" Don’t copy the MC’s that you hear. I know its hard to steer your lyrics away from the big names but once you got your style there will be no stopping you. Also, try not to beat box or voice scratch unless your better than storm or Whizzkid it wouldn’t be worth it. "

Talking of which, is there any one at the moment that has taken your lyrical eye for the future of the microphone hot spot, that you have seen out on the up and coming block !??

" Now I could say every1 and get myself out this question. There’s a couple in Bristol I like the sound of the new boy Dream –E, I also like lyrically - MC Lloydy. Got his own style which is good. On the MC front I also rate Enemy and Static.
Ones for the future and all of them nice blokes as well.
"

Tell us a little if you would about your business with the burger van!?- How has this been going!?- Are you still doing it!?

" Ooooh no why did you have to bring that up ha-ha!! I’ve still got the red burger van but I’m starting my police training very soon which will take up a lot of time so if anyone wants to buy a burger van ha-ha-ha! "

Your biggest rush to date!- please share with us a really nice memory - from your time on stage, or a good one from going out raving!

" Must be my set at Re Activation. My set was 2 till 3 and I’ve never seen it so busy. It was a sweat pit and every1 stomped all the way through. Me and MC Charlie rocked it. We took over from Dougal and Wotsee so the dance floor was already rammed. 800 people dancing around like they don’t care! The Bristol crew are starting to get my lyrics now and its always good to hear people MCing your lyrics back at you "

Where do you see your self in say 2-4 years time, along with the hardcore music!?

" Hopefully with more big residences. Like we have mentioned I’ve only done this for under 2 years and I hope to make a go of it. I’m halfway up the ladder just need to keep working hard. Or on another note I’ll be married with 2 kids and wont be aloud out ha-ha. I’ve been thinking about joining forces with a D.J to make a go of things and also join bookings. I’m sure the right person will come along soon and we will make a real go of it. Like I’ve said I’m always looking for a new path " :D

[Error in dsi:object tag]

Like myself you remain mainly in your root age that is Bristol (myself London!) would you like to play out at London, or any other location outside of the Bristol area!? Please tell us of any future plans too!;0)

" I defiantly want to have a few sets in London. I’ve got a few in the pipeline but of course I cant say anything until I’m actually booked. I will be spreading my wings and trying out different venues. I’m also working on my new demo soon which any1 can listen to on my Face Book page or my D.S.I account. Don’t know if u can print that but oh well thought id give it a try ha! "

What has been your proudest moment in your short MCing career!?

" Hitting 11 bookings last November. in 1 month that’s quite a job and also getting booked for hardcore heavens best of the west room. when my set started it was rammed. a very big highlight !! "

Sadly and also- collectively the time has come f or me to say farewell, for today’s famous interview, with some one so well established in his own scene! I’d personally like to wish you all the very best with future projects and events that will obviously be happening very, very soon…!- JUST before we go - could you please leave us with some hardcore words of wisdom- for the crew out there!?J;)

" To everyone who goes raving just go out have a good time and make peace not war. There’s to much bad stuff going on in this world and we aint gonna add to it. I’m just like any1 else. I’m a raver with lyrics. Peace out H20. "

MC H2O - I would like to thank you today for one your words, and more importantly your time.
Many thanks -
Dave
