D-H-D INTERVIEW (EXCLUSIVE)
Right Dave, the interview....... After watching you interview everyone else I feel it time that the role is reversed and that some-one interview’s yourself!

For everyone that doesn’t know today I am interviewing the one like the MC D.H.D.

My reason for this will become apparent later on as you will see D.H.D is a stand fast edge of your seat talent who delivers unrehearsed lyrics and rocks dance floors with his freestyle ability.

So ahead of Ballistic Beats H.U3 Album Launch, we here at Ballistic Beats finally thought it time to ask one of London’s known MC’s a few questions ahead of our event this Friday!- D.H.D has never been interviewed before – FACT- So here it is part one...

I’m going stop boring the shit out of you now and give you some top reading as the man himself answers all my questions:

Here it is..... MC D.H.D: - THE INTERVIEW -

So the name D.H.D, what does it stand for and how did you think of it :-)

“That’s an un- interpretable terminology, for me to reveal- all I can say is: that it’s because I’m so ’ill’…”

Who would you say you biggest inspiration comes from and why?

“Inspirations come from far and wide - I couldn’t possibly hold claim to one - into my own words: Past & present. Most of the Old Skool MC’s I.e. Vocal, Free & Easy, MC MC (King) Ruff Stevy Hyper D,(rip) Fearless, Live Lee- if you do ya home work a few of them are still going today…Present: Skibba, Shabba, Harry Shotta, Lyrical Groover, Mayhem, Rizla Dizla, Spenno, Locky - Vidall, Chit Chat- it’s a long list, hard to mention all of them but these are people that have touched me in some way along the time line, of me as a mic performer. Also hip hop influence- a guy called D.J Hemlock,(NOT From Terrafirma) he has done ALLOT for me lyrically- teaching me about verses & rhyming etc.”

As you are a London mc and you have played at every single major London event i.e. Epidemik, History of Hardcore, Nu Dawn to name a few what areas are you looking to conquer next??

“That is quite true, yet sadly UN true- there is one London team that won’t book me- won’t seem to book me. I won’t stress on this, but in terms of London and performing- you’ve said it yourself its all good! I’m happy with my bookings to date- I feel blessed when I go to MC & still can’t believe that I have had this opportunity, despite the bad parts, the music, ravers and good times make up for this.”

What dj's do you enjoy working for and why??

“Straight up: Hardcore Hit Squad (My crew!) Mr Sparkle- he always bangs it out!- New style and flair and the guy is only getting stronger each & every time he plays!- Greg Peaks- number one!- Sonik- Beat locked!- Dangerous- bad man on the mixer!!!- Also a huge one is you! DISTORTION from Ballistic! I aint just saying that, if it’s happy sets you want it’s happy sets you get- also on the back to back decks!!! Hahaha! There are actually more! PMSL: Prospect we always work well together, Entity- D.J Sound, both high contrast D.J’s I feel I flow of their sets, Prism &Trixta- Mixman, Lady Brock- love her switches to D&B!- High Voltage again their sets are awesome plus you get the switch!;) hahahaha so many man!”

With hardcore there are always ups n downs... want would u describe as your lowest point and how did ya pick yourself up from it??

“My lowest point- it started last year. I was set on getting myself a booking at this event- and all seemed as if it was going to click. It then moved over to this year and I was left out in the cold- To be honest I didn’t pick myself up. I just thought that I had. Then all this other stuff happened. I was totally fucked man. I even reached a stage of doubting myself. I picked up simply from a close quarter of friends. My lady and letting go of wanting what I thought I NEEDED, and it all seemed to clear, paving the way for me to see clearly and strengthen from that experience. The scenes HAPPY hardcore- but it’s grimy as the sewer at times- trust me. But fuckin hey were in 2009 here!” ;)

Where do you see London hardcore in 5 yrs and what changes would you like to see during this time?

“I honestly don’t know! But then re capping on that thought- GOOD! We have people like Hoodzie- Prospect, Greg Peaks, PSR - loads of D.J’s holding it down! Then we have your selves Ballistic Beats, History, Happy Nation - & who knows what holds the future!??- Also the events running now most probably still be going in one shape or form- It’s all good in the Capital hood baby!”;)

Are there any promotions out there right now that you would like to play for that you haven’t yet and why would you like to play for them?

"Well obviously I would like to play and perform at some of the bigger events, i.e. Uproar one day – it has a good crowed and the vibe goes off. Also Fusion I would say too..I have been to an early Fusion at the Sanctuary and you know the coo - it’s ALWAYS GOOD- all you have to do is see the photos from ANY of their previous events, its shit hot!! Also Bristol- I have already performed at After Dark that was an amazing night, I’d like to get down to Reactivation or Stay Hardcore sometime in the future too. Cardiff and Wales appeals to me too- BIG TIME! So I’ve put that out there now..On a closer to home tip there's an event called K2 sessions and The Vinyl Touch I'd LOVE to play at both of them! I'm not complaining about my bookings to date, as I have been booked for Chemical Generation in June. And my FIRST ever B2T, on the 3rd of May, one day after my birthday. I have the High Voltage two to thank for this one, so RE spect and- POW!";)

What would you say to any hardcore promoters looking to come to London??

"Hahaha! The beer isn’t cheap and the Thames is that way-> ! LMAO! Nah, nah seriously- London is tough- very tough. It takes allot of time, sweat and dedication to build any sort of reputation and I guess it’s also what music style you are hosting too. Hardcore Addiction have recently staged a successful hardcore night and that was their FIRST one- so you know, if you are prepared to put in the right promotion etc you most likely will get out a better result... So London, = enjoy and above all have fun son!"

Have you any plans to run your own night in the future?

"Yeah sure I do! I have ideas for allot of things to be honest, but sadly this all boils down to good old money... My night has a name and also music policy, when t comes to the crunch it WONT be strictly hardcore...I firmly believe that variation is the key, with up and coming talent being booked as slandered. Also it will be in a smaller venue somewhere. . . Over the next couple of years- WATCH THIS SPACE :"

Who would you book and why?

"Like I said up and comers would get a shot at the title. Funnily enough we were all sitting round at Sparkles just yesterday, we discussed: ENTITY & GREG PEAKS on a back to back tip!- I’m sure that would go off, I also have plans for some major back to back sets too... three way mash up’s too..I’d book artists due to different style contributions for the set, over all talent and also reading the crowed and how well they play up to, and with the crowed. To name a few: Ben Skinner & Lyrical Groover, Spenno as a D.J (AMAZING!!!) D.J Rapid, D.J Sound, PSR, Cutter, J.C, Midje & Cuzen, Yourself, MC Tuckski – Stevie C, Lady Brock,Duracell,Ruff Trix, Mitch & Wilfiee C, Swoosh,Tempo, Upfront -Ten Tun & Dangerous standard Vibes & Livelee if the money was there!;) And there are many, many more - far too many to mention. Some of the back to back combo’s have to remain secret until the day!;) lol."

How far are you looking to go within the hardcore realms?

"How far? Well right at this moment in time, I honestly don’t know.. Live the phrase Sky’s the limit that just about sums it. After this HOH – I feel that I am back where I want to be on the microphone and with the ravers too. This is important to me, I have had allot of dips in feeling negative towards some of my performances, this HOH has put me back on top, and I think if I just keep going and let things happen then all will be cool...I’m just gonna stop pushing as the wise lyrical master said: "One should never force the hand that guides them, as it could easily push you back down! Remember that people"… “That just about sums it up bro..."

If I wanted to book you what should I do?

"All my necessary contact booking details are on my profile page. I live on D.S.I so I would say either a good old P.M or drop me an email as I will guarantee that I get that one! COOL."

Is there anything you would like to say to all the people that have supported you?

“Yeah defiantly. I say it on the mic all the time at end of set’s to end of nights, always from the h e a r t God Bless You & THANK YOU! For those close, you know how I feel about the music as a whole, for all the crew - just thank you ever so much, I just hope that you will continue enjoying what I do.- Always – and continue to remain- HIGHLY BLESSED.”

You have played numerous D.J sets and have now moved onto Rave Breaks why have you done this? ARE you looking to change ya way and be a D.J?

“Yeah- it’s simply because I LOVE this sound! I also love mixing too! I do believe that this sound is a way of progression though, it’s so variable- it is the way- my way.”

What events have you most enjoyed playing at and what stands out in terms when you feel you delivered a good performance?

“My GREATEST performance goes to your very own Ballistic Beats night- Vibes & Livelee’s birthday party- Hoodzie & Eufions set. I just felt that I had the zone at hand, every drop they blew it up, I felt that, I heard that and felt part of that.
Also at my debut Epidemik at Ministry Of Sound- I had some great feedback on that night too. Also without a doubt High Voltage- their nights just top it- each & every time. It has to be said Happy Nation arena two in Club Life- slammed the jam in there a couple of times too.” Bringing us up to date, the last History of hardcore!!! I MC’d for Bernzi & Li’ll Miss Detonate again I had upmost fun, and really felt the vibe whilst on stage!- I MC’d with Vidall- we always work well together! You never know Ballistic Beats is just up the road now, on the countdown...Hopefully we can create round 3 for me. . .
