Isn't space opening starting at midday as well and then 4.30 for the rest of the season?

I guess it's because their opening is within the special dates that the council set - for openings before 4th June I think it is places can open at midday, and for closings after a certain date places can open a midday too apparently..... xxxxx

as it stands at the moment.....

- all clubs and anyone with a cafe concierto license (most venues that have music) must be closed between 06:30 and 16:30

official opening and closing parties are exempt and they can start at midday as long as the club is continuously open between the first week of june and first week of october (so they can't have the official opening party, then close for a few weeks and open up again)

the original law (which was changed before the season even started) was that the venues would have to be closed between 06:00 and 12:00 and the amendment to 16:30 does not have much support. i personally think they will have to back down or at the very least tweak the law a bit because as it stands a lot of restaurants will be banned from opening for lunch simply because they have a cafe concierto license. that's just my opinion though.

it's more an issue for the venues & promoters rather than the clubbers and tourists - someone will always find a way so don't worry.....

Thats exactly what I'd heard, but was a wee bit confused about it. for some reason, had heard those old chinese whispers and never know what to believe!

Every year there is something different in laws and legislations and rumours in the run up to the summer season, so like you say, I wont be worrying, cos it always sorts itself out!

I usually go out Sept closing time anyways, so by then any niggles are all done and dusted by then! Altho would love to get out in June for openings, my mate is tempting big time, shes going out and I wana be there!

you just go after 16:30 like 90% of us have been doing for years anyway.....

a real shame for the early promoters like vitalik who did some great work and the seasonal workers who could only go to morning parties, but other than that it shouldn't make too much difference.
