We use professional speaker enclosures that are smart and clean in their appearance. They also match each other and stack neatly. These are mostly loaded with VOID drivers. (Please Google "void audio" if you haven't heard of them! They're directly in competition with Function One). Our amplifiers are all Crown professional series and built for reliability. The system is provided with sound processing. This ensures that whatever the output from the mixer is, the sound from the speakers is kept at a high quality (rather than just clipping the amps and making it sound aweful!). It also protects the system from overload, less for you to worry about.
The sound processing array can handle everything you (or I) need. The main features are: room EQ, compression, dynamic EQ, delay-line processing (for rear stacks, if used), stereo enhancement, bass enhancement, limiting, feedback destruction, crossovers and more.
All equipment is P.A.T. (Portable Appliance Test) approved for safety.
Speaker stands/poles (where used) are of the locking-pin type to comply with Health & Safety regulations.
Cables are protected using cable curbs so they aren't loose and present a zero trip hazard. Likewise, loose cables are taped to speaker poles to maintain a smart appearance.
We use high quality (expensive and heavy!) signal cables throughout the entire system to maintain signal quality and connection reliability. I'm sure you've had to do the 'phono plug wiggle' at some point to get a CDJ or turntable to work, so you'll know how important this is to maintaining a professional event. All cables are tested regularly to prevent them from failing during the event.
Similarly, microphones are connected using proper cables so there aren't any annoying humming, popping or thumping noises!
DJ equipment is tested regularly so that it is in perfect working order for each event. Cleaning helps ensure that delicate items such as faders don't fail during the event.
As you would expect, the equipment is supplied clean and in good condition (no missing knobs, faders, earthing nuts, stickers, feet, power leads etc.)
