(Berlin, DE) - We have discussed it before, but now it is official; This year's Loveparade comes to Essen 25th August 2007, in the middle of Germany's industrial Ruhrgebiet. Rainer Schaller's organization has announced that it will be organizing the coming five editions in the area, far away from the capital.

The reasons for the decision are as of yet unknown, but it is likely to be a matter of permits and money. Moreover, the farther away from Berlin the better, as Loveparade has a new competitor named B-Parade, which gets its first chance on the streets of Berlin this year. Whether people will choose for Berlin, with a new organization, or Essen, with good old 'genuine' Loveparade (although it has been changing staff rapidly over the last few years) is to be seen, fact is that for Dance Loving countries such as Holland, Belgium, the UK and France, the trip can be a lot shorter; Essen is only 50 km away from the Dutch Border.

Nevertheless, what is a loveparade without the charm of the city of Berlin, the gathering at the 'Siegesaule', the lush parks, and the city's large after parties? Please let us know what you think, will it be Berlin, Essen or nothing at all this year?

I will definetely try out the B-Parade on the 21st of July! I hope it will be good, but so far noone has a clue of what to expect. At the moment they are doing major road works along the street where the parade is going to be held and this will go on for some while so it will be interesting to see whether the road works are going to be finished on time or how the hell they are going to do the Parade with one lane completely blocked!!!

I found this article (http://www.ministryofsound.com/news/features/20070423_1loveparade) saying the rumor was reported by a Berlin newspaper a couple weekends ago but is currently denied by the organizer.

Apparently the Loveparade is going to be in Essen on the 25th of August and it is going to take place there for the next 5 years! BUT I would wait for this to show up on the official loveparade.de website ... just to be sure!
The B-Parade is not a mere Techno Parade ... the Loveparade was not a Techno Parade in the last couple of years either!!! The theme evolves around all kinds of electronic music, meaning there will be trucks playing Trance, House, Hardstyle, Drum & Bass, Electro and Techno!!! I think this is good, so everyone can pick out a couple of trucks they like and follow those!
Anyone thinking of going to the B-Parade on 21st July? There will be a press conference held in May, so after that there will hopefully be more information for the upcoming event .... I think they need big clubs and big name DJs to be there, that will pull the crowds! Otherwise I think it will be a flop!

Me and my girlfriend are planning a trip to Berlin on the 20th July for a week.
Can I double check this is the right date for the street parade? I know its not 'Loveparade' but very similar? And Also this is the right week to be going to Berlin for a party??

Please let me know as I'm actually booking hotels this evening!

I cannot advise at this point whether the Parade on the 21st of July in Berlin will be any good, as the press conference with sponsors and interested people is on the 2nd of May!
But according to revesite the Parade will definetely be held and up to 50 trucks are supposed to be there! Start at 14:00 Uhr, End at 23:20 Uhr
As far as afterparties are concerned you will not get much info on this before June! In recent years the major parties were always on the day before the Loveparade and on the actual day the Loveparade is held! So this year it should be on the 21st! In any case you can always go to the Tresor club, which has now opened after a 3 year absence!!!

Today is 2nd of May.

Oh dear, I feel sorry for anyone having booked flights! I drove past the Parade route and it looks one big mess....one side of the road is completely dug up and roadworks will go on til August/September. I wondered how the hell they are going to do a Parade with just one side of the road being available and now it is official! --> No Loveparade and no B-Parade this year!!! he B-Parade will take place on 12th July 2008, and this year they decided to not do it as they would have had to reduce the amount of trucks by half and also the Parade would have just been half the length...from the Angel to the Brandenburger Tor!
Instead they are doing a massive open end party at the new Berlin train station, with 20 minute DJ sets featuring all kind of electronic music directions.
So everyone having booked, all you can do is to go there instead and hopefully it will be a good party!

Not even in Essen? I hate it that Berlin has now become the rise and fall of the Love parade, it really is a big shame, and with eveything so uncertain it doesn't do much for the peoples confidence that Berlin can hold any kind of parade again.
