does any body else think clubbing has become too cool?
i've come to the decision that clubbing...and clubbers are far too cool now. it's all about listening to the "right" music and dressing a certain way. it's made clubbing serious and boring. what happened to wearing proper cyber?

and not giving a fuck? and what was life like BEFORE KETAMINE?! what happened to being bouncy and silly and having fun in a club?

All this about free parties is great news but is not accessible to everyone and is certainly not the norm. I've never been invited to a free party in 10 years (legal) clubbing.

Sorry to blow my own trumpet but tuiTion has attracted young, old (50+), black, white, cyber, shirt and shoes, chavs, posers, gay and straight simply because its good music and a great atmosphere. This is what you would find at a free party and what you also find at many other nights in Manchester and further afield.
This is not a shameless plug its simply the truth and has been mentioned already along with the other new nights starting up recently.
Its not a new concept and I think in that way it benefits from being a small night. However clubbing has changed a lot so its promoted differently, has different music policies and DJ mixtures etc etc.

As jack of Kats said its ultimately our scene to change if we want to. I decided to change it and within a year its changed - hard work is required but it is possible.

What we don't need is people slating the things that keep the scene interesting and diverse e.g cyber.
And we still need the big events/brands, partly to give us the amazing shows e.g slammin vinyl, Gatecrasher etc and partly to keep the posers/chavs away from the smaller genuine underground events.

The problem with free parties is they don't make any money! stating the bleeding obvious maybe but you gotta get a sound system, djs, lighting etc. and unles you have lots of generous mates who are willing to lend there equipment and time then they cost money!

i have my own equipment and people chip in to have a party , if a load of you chipped in what you would spend to go clubbing for a night you would have an ace party and most probs more fun as you feel more a part of the party

the only people who shell any money out are the organisers , the party is free for everyone else to enjoy. it could be like you and your mates with a loud car stereo going somewhere secluded inviting a few others and having a good time getting wrecked listening to tunes you have organised the party the lot for others. people do that on a bigger scale and take huge sound systems , decks , lights , people find out by word of mouth and turn up with some beers or whatever and go mental till whenever they decide to call it today , some go on for days

i bet you know somebody with decks and a sound system , why dont you and some mates try it this summer , spend the night under the stars and have a rave, invite who you want play the music you want to hear , get wasted do what you want

I got kinda bored of all the same points being made around page 10, so just copied some points I agreed with..
- sunglasses indoors are just plain silly.
- same goes for heels at raves.
- you'll get the scene ravers at free raves, just as you will at ones you have to pay for... they're still just as annoying.

When I go raving, I want to genuinely enjoy letting myself go. I’m not bothered about fishing for compliments and ticking trend boxes. I want to be making big fish, little fish and cardboard boxes instead, while jumping around like a twat.

More to the point (and this may be a controversial statement on a site such as this one) coke and ket are killing clubbing - I've never seen two drugs that are so bad for the vibe in a club - one makes everyone arrogant arseholes with God complexes, the other just makes people mong out - hardly conducive to a happy atmosphere in either case.

AMEN
Though I do know some people who can handle their ket and dance away as happy as ever, they are few and far between.

The scene will always change. You're not going to get rid of the scene kids, so just make friends with them and turn them to the good side. I hate the whole image thing as much as anyone, but it's not going to change. DJ's are always going to be idolised, so just get on with it and have fun the way you want to... :]

That's all good, if you're cool anyway. it's just the majority of people seem to wear them TO look cool, and that's where I have a problem. So many people have said to me how much they hate wearing sunglasses, yet wear them to look better; or just put them on when a spotter comes into the vicinity. I don't particularly mind them doing it, I just don't see why they can't just concentrate on having a good time instead.
Of course that is personal opinion :]
