Maison NYE Cancelled
Due to a sequence of events beyond our control Maison will NOT be at Dusk Till Dawn (Bournemouth) this New Year's Eve. We had a deal with DTD which they have broken. We will not be doing any more events there.

I'm not sure at the moment whether or not we will do an alternative event, which means it is a possibility that we won't have a NYE event for the first time in a long time. We have built our reputation by doing what we say we're going to do when we say we're going to do it, and by being trustworthy and reliable. Unfortunately those aren't characteristics shared by a lot of the people in this industry, which is why generally club owners / promoters are a shady bunch of cretins who you shouldn't touch with a barge pole.

On the whole we've met some fantastic people during the last 9 years and had a great time, but that isn't to say that the same bad apples don't keep cropping up and screwing people over whenever they get the opportunity. It's a shame, because we like to think the best of people and give them the opportunity to do the right thing, but in this instance the people in question didn't even come close.

This means that our 9th Birthday is very likely to be our last event of the year, so let's make it our best.

We're really sorry to all of the people who normally travel from far and wide for our NYE events. We hope this doesn't p*ss you off too much... we'll make up for it throughout 2007 with some great parties. Please spread the word (add buddies etc) that we're not doing a NYE event. If the situation changes we will let you know immediately.

Thanks very much,

Cliff Lay

Oooh bitchy!!

To be honest it is a bit out of order trying to big up NYE at DTD on a thread saying that it has been screwed over by them. They've ruined my NY and I'd say quite a few other peoples. I'm not going to go to DTD cos I don't really rate it in there, one of the only nights I've actually enjoyed was the maison classics, the rest are pretty average.

Good Lord, that sounds like my worst nightmare! I'm sure Ryan will be there though ;-)

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and hold my own party and create my own genre of music - I'll call it "neo-ska-folk-new-wave-trip-hop-Northern-soul" - any takers?

Mention the word 'minimal' and I switch off; throw in 'techno' and I've usually left the room by that point.

this dude and dudet are packing our bags and getting away from the b'mouth NYE fiasco you could come join us if you like, NYE at canvas then the hotel has nice indoor pool jacuzzi sauna etc very nice!

i dont get the reason a big deal is being made about hijaking. surely if the night has been cancelled dont people have the right to find out what the now alternatives are? whether its joe russ etc talking bout DTD, hudo talking about elements, me talking about singing karaoke, i do presume you all intend on still doing something NYE im sure when you all found out maison was cancelled you asked the question "what do i do now"? and surely as this is where most of your maison friends will talk some options BRIEFLY mentioned on here doesnt detract from the fact every1 is gutted theres not a maison NYE this yr. cliffs peeved off enough that he cant put this party on he wouldnt exactly want to see every1 boycot NYE as a whole though im sure cliff will go out himself somewhere

I wasn't really talking about you bigging up DTD. I left early on Sat cos I hadn't been well all week and was on anti-biotics for a throat infection, was absolutely shattered and my voice had practically disappeared. Poor show though I know! ;o)

Didnt you and John, Glen, Kirst co go see Craig Richards at Maison the other month?

Im sure he would have played pretty minimal, unless he is going back to the old days and playing ' good ' tech house ' for us Bournemouth lot, also Cliff done wonders in bringing Clive henry to Maison, another Minimal head who played a wicked minimal set on the night .... i left after he finished.

You guys are all probs hearing minimal tunes ( all be it commercial ) while your out, probs dont notice, but if its publicised then peeps stereotype the sound and sack it off.

Give it a chance and come with an open mind. Techno rocks!

Entirely unconvinced, I'm afraid, Joe - not my cup of tea!

Oh, I see! When the cat's away... Naughty boy! Did he embarass himself, Glenda?

you could come join us if you like, NYE at canvas then the hotel has nice indoor pool jacuzzi sauna etc very nice

Hmm... yes, sounds gorgeous... if you can convince Mr. Parker to pay for it! Chances are slimmer than Nicole Richie, to be fair ;-)
