Maison NYE Cancelled
Due to a sequence of events beyond our control Maison will NOT be at Dusk Till Dawn (Bournemouth) this New Year's Eve. We had a deal with DTD which they have broken. We will not be doing any more events there.

I'm not sure at the moment whether or not we will do an alternative event, which means it is a possibility that we won't have a NYE event for the first time in a long time. We have built our reputation by doing what we say we're going to do when we say we're going to do it, and by being trustworthy and reliable. Unfortunately those aren't characteristics shared by a lot of the people in this industry, which is why generally club owners / promoters are a shady bunch of cretins who you shouldn't touch with a barge pole.

On the whole we've met some fantastic people during the last 9 years and had a great time, but that isn't to say that the same bad apples don't keep cropping up and screwing people over whenever they get the opportunity. It's a shame, because we like to think the best of people and give them the opportunity to do the right thing, but in this instance the people in question didn't even come close.

This means that our 9th Birthday is very likely to be our last event of the year, so let's make it our best.

We're really sorry to all of the people who normally travel from far and wide for our NYE events. We hope this doesn't p*ss you off too much... we'll make up for it throughout 2007 with some great parties. Please spread the word (add buddies etc) that we're not doing a NYE event. If the situation changes we will let you know immediately.

Thanks very much,

Cliff Lay

Minimal techno isn't anything new!

I didn't say it was, mate; I said I didn't like it.

it's the same tempo as house, the same rhythms as tribal house, the same sqeeks and bleeps as acid house just without the crap female vocals and cheeze

That may well be true but I still don't like it.

techno is the love child of funk and a drum machine

That may also be true but again, I don't like it.

To me, minimal techno is boring and souless, but then again, each to their own. It may well be your bag but it's not everybody's and, unfortunately, you're not going to win me over on this one!

Aaaw, Joe - I wasn't trying to be stroppy, hun! As I said, each to their own. I'm sure you'd probably think that a tonne of the music I listen to is proper rubbish!

Phheewww! :)

.... I like Paul Weller, he has to be the coolest man in the music industry .... better than Ian Brown ( although this comment could spark a debate ).

Indeed it could.

Weller`s as cool as they come and unlike others, hasn`t sold out even though he`s been at the top of his game for 30-odd years.
Brown has released a handful of very good solo albums and was lead singer in a band that would easily have been as big as Oasis had their record company not behaved like a group of bad-tempered toddlers.

You too, honey - it's been a while, and you're still a legend, Clare!

Nah, nothing too contraversial about that statement, Joe; I'd agree with you whole-heartedly. Paul Weller is immense as were The Jam and The Style Council; everything the man touches turns to gold.
Ian Brown is awesome but not in the same league.
Whereas Liam Gallagher is just a lame immitation ... (cue backlash from the Parker brothers)...
