2009 was a year of dance arena's pushing the boat out.

In Ibiza Tiesto pretty much rebuilt privilege to allow his Monday night spectacular, at Global Gathering the Boom box was unveiled - a big daddy spin off of Ettiene de Crecy's equally mind bending lighting rig.

However, the biscuit taker was the Arcadia arena showcased at Glasto, Glade Bestival and Electric Picnic.

The success of the arena in '09 has meant it will be back in 2010 with even more elaborate tricks up its sleeve. We'll tell you more as they tell us.

What was the best stage of the 2009 festivals?

I saw this go off at Glastonbury and it was totally amazing.. but I think the temple of excess at SGP was my favourite place this summer! :)

I heard the second floor at Timewarp Mannheim was incredible when Richie Hawtin and Sven Vath were playing. I spent some time there at the start of the festive but after that most of my time was spent on the 3rd floor but the 2nd floor had a ceiling of lights that moved up and down through out the set. They must of spent so much money on production!

Wasn't at Glastonbury, but the Godskitchen Boom Box at Global was immense.

Seeing Above & Beyond followed by Armin Van Buuren in that DJ box is without doubt the highlight of the year for me.

Personally I thought the Boombox looked good but sounded sh*t - especially after Guetta blew the bass speakers. Arcadia was v impressive, but in terms of atmosphere, sound quality and DJ quality I think Bollywood at Bestival was my highlight.

I bet the sound was terrible though. SW4's sound levels are a complete joke!

.......it was pretty damn loud when I accidently put my ears right in front of a monitor, couldn't hear much at all after that......for the next three days!

Moulded earplugs are wicked. Mine are a bit unsubtle but when Pyro had his done he asked for them to be discrete as possible and they're barely noticable.

If only the crowd got the same sound levels as the DJs

That looks virtually identical to the 'Afterburner stage' that was at this year Bestival event. A really impressive stage indeed.

Having attended the last three consecutive Timewarp Mannheim events i was expecting something very very special and fuck me did they deliver. That cavernous room was unfriggin believable. In all my 18 years of parties have i seen such high level of production.
