Wax On / Wax Off - Owned!

The first Wax On / Wax Off went off on Saturday, and I'd like to thank a few people for making it a great night.

WeAreGod.co.uk did a fantastic job on the visuals for us, it really helped change the venue from a rock to a dance club. Thanks for that fellas (and additional thanks to Paul for getting us that vital phono to XLR cable without which we'd have had no sound).

Are You The Farmer? kicked off the night with their unique poetic musings and Bristol loved them. Laughter and insight in abundance, beautiful sounds and the strangest, funniest game of bingo you can imagine. Thank you guys, you were great.

A quick shuffle of chairs and Dying Giraffe was on the decks, ripping out some wicked breakbeat tunage and getting the people up and moving (which is bloody impressive before 11pm). Thanks mate, you did just the job the night needed with your skilful seamless set, and earned yourself a higher place on the bill next time.

After Mishima (the one set I can't really comment on, but people were dancing and said nice things after - sounded ok from behind the decks too : ) was an expert set from Dexter Styles. I also need to thank him for the loan of his decks and mixer, for lugging the kit down there with me on Saturday afternoon and for picking it up after, and for organising this with me - it's been a long time coming but we did it right eh? Oh yeah, and for a bangin' selection of tunes, keeping it kicking till 2am.

Last up and definitely not least was Tethis, shifting the pace to psytrance at just the right time. Thanks for keeping the party going all the way till the end, for a quality set, and for leaving the crowd shouting "one more" - just the way a night should end.

Special extra thanks go to Nic for being the best thing ever and for making me get off my ass and organise this, Mr Evans for the brilliant Mr Miyagi artwork and for pushing the night to NTT, Joo for the after party and the support, Ham for liking Jamaroquoi a bit too much, Jane for getting the dancing going and Jess for keeping it going, Adam and Bobby C for making it after all, Atom Bob for his surprise appearance (and Emma for encouraging it), Garf for getting the gardening in on time and Ginny just for being there (against doctor's advice), Luke for sleeping on the sofa and Pac-Pac for sleeping on the floor, and to everyone else who made it - you all being there was the most important thing of all. And a big thanks to The Crown for being a good place to party - we showed 'em how it's done.

One more thank you left - sorry if I forgot anything important, believe me I'm grateful for it all. We had to take £500 at the downstairs bar to get our deposit back, and we killed it. Nearly £900 (2nd most they've ever taken) went into the till, so thanks to everyone who bought a drink and had a dance - you made it work : )

Ready for the next one?.....
Mishima
