CLAUDIA CAZACU - INTERNATIONAL DEARTURES (RICCOCHA REMIX) HARDER FASTER REVIEW
Original Mix

A reasonably pounding kick drum and filtering up percussion opens the doors with this one, the percussion being nice and crisp without being overdone. A holding bassline is next up coming straight in full at the minute mark, nothing over elaborate about this either - but you are guided in with some subtle knocky effects and van Doorn styled chorded synth hits. Holding root note is definitely the flavour of the day here, creating a moody and mysterious feel to each progressing section. A slightly coarse and distorted lead synth is introduced during the breakdown, followed by a further lead following a very simple pattern from this point forward. Catchy enough, without being mind blowing but worth checking out.

Riccocha and Mac & Taylor Mixes

My fellow countryman and stablemate Riccocha comes first in the remix duties here, lifting the pace a little and with some interesting shaking percussion throughout the intro. The kick is very soft here, which I felt could have done with more depth and warmth to bring it through more. Riccocha’s productions have an element of fun about them, some nice energy and unexpected elements – a good thing in my book. This time Sam has gone for a sparse, minimal feel on the sub-lead – though retains the original elements to boot. Mac & Taylor firm things up in the kick department, keeping percussion sparse and panning nicely. I couldn’t help feel that the minute mark should have brought more on this one, as energy levels didn’t quite reach the heights. The same lead is again retained here, and overall I will go with Riccocha’s mix from the three.
