Squatting
This is a thread about stealing property, not toilet ettiquette.

thisislondon.co.uk

You have probably read about a gang of hippy artists that are breaking into mansions in Belgravia, Chelsea and Knightsbridge that are privatly owned and squatting there until they get evicted.

Scum or Heros?

Oh really cool. The guy's clearly not a good enough musician to depend solely on his skills to break through, so needs some 'zany plan' to get him some press coverage. What a fucking bunch of tossers. Look at him with his guitar - dick. Smug fake 'let's do it for the nurses and firemen' cunt.

Just because you can 'legaly' break into someone's property doesn't mean you should. It's fucking disgusting. Of course you're only going to get some nice clean, full time worker types turning up - junkie fucking skag heads more like who'll ruin the place. Cunts cunts cunts cunts.

If I thought for one second they really gave a fuck for nurses etc then they;d get my backing - to a a point, but they're only trying to get a bit of air time. Fucking useless tossing fuck-bags.

Squatters rights are the most stupid thing ever.

Ignorance is bliss.

How can someone breaking the law have any rights whatsoever?

A long shot I know but... because they are still actually human perhaps?

what gives them the right to breakinto private property

With such fact ignoring presumptions like that I think you'd get on well with Jan Moir. I blame the immigrants.

halfbear said:
can't the nick arrest them as soon as they catch them??

The 'nick' cant arrest anything and neither can the police station, or the hospital for that matter. The police however do arrest people very regularly for breaking into buildings. The point you are missing is that they don't break in. But hey, who needs to know the facts, or even read the article before forming an opinion, fuck the mail wouldn't exist if people had to actually educate themselves before blaming global warming on those darn animals with coloured skin and those disgusting poor people.

OK, so it's wrong they break in in first place

Erm ....

but its usually some "artistic" dosser, or hippy who takes over these houses.

Of course, this is obviously a fact. Just like all dogs that aren't Labradors eat children.

If they turned one of these building into a homeless shelter rather than art exhibition or hippy sanctuary then they would actually be doing something useful.

It is a homeless shelter. Just like all of the other squats around the UK.

According to government figures, which we all know tend to underestimate issues, there are now enough vacant homes in England to house almost two million people. In London there are around 17000 empty properties owned by councils and other public bodies alone. More than 1,000 flats lie empty on the Ferrier estate in Kidbrooke. There are 78 empty houses owned by the Department for Transport and Enfield council on a stretch of the North Circular.

My personal favourite though has to be those houses which MP's claim are their main residence and leave in such a state of disrepair there are trees growing through them.

Fucking too right people squat.

Danny I'm really not sure what you have against me and all the things I haven't actually said!

All I said was that they shouldn't be breaking into peoples' houses, and if their caught doing it, enforce the law... how did you find me a racist from that??

because I'm not racist, I'm not anti-immigration, and I don't read the tripe that is the Daily Mail!

and whether a window is open or not shouldn't make a diference, it's still not their property!

the local authority,s will be taking back empty houses and flats, legally soon, so what differents does it make, what has every one got against hippies, they have to live some where, they just have taste and dont want to live in a dump, the property,s should be rented or sold if they dont want sqatters

why don't they get a job and get a mortgage, or rent like the rest of us??

If the property is just sitting there boarded up and not actually someones home who is away or trying to sell the property I dont really see whats wrong with it as long as the people respect the house & the area ..as should everyone Im not stereotyping squatters.

Its much better for the actual buildings to have people in them providing heat etc rather than rotting away with damp and cold or the gardens going nuts and roots branches start growing through brickwork etc. SO if they maintain it, could actually be beneficial.

Reckon they should pay the council tax though!

Yeah, I mean, its not like there is a shortage of jobs or affordable housing out there is it. Bloody lazy hippies, getting themselves made redundant and evicted from their homes by the banks. That would never happen to you would it.

it would actually

I got divorced in November last year and made redundant in February - I worked my arse off so I could get a new job, a new flat, and make sure I do whatever I can to make sure I can pay for it

Hah! That's the thing, why should they respect the environment? Thay have not worked for it, contributed to it and certainly have to care as no what happens to it in the future.

For the same reason you don't I presume, although some do.

No, I mean these sqatters setting up a patch in a £20M property - if they really care so much then surely their ebergy would be better spent focussing in areas where there is an opporrunity to rehome masses of people reather than just a few. I'm sick of people banging the 'I care so much' drum when really, if you look at what they are doing you find that it's all self serving bullshit.
