you hunt for your dinner?!?

yes i do, more often than people probably want to know about.

Theproblem with someone having a gun to defend themselves is that it might be stolen by their would-be attacker. The issue snowballs from there.

i dont have a gun to defend myself though and i guess that is where it really is different to the states.

they adopted an ARM EVERYONE attitude, so anyone pulling a gun on people has got to remember that everyone else has probably got one too, or at least - potentially they could have.

the uk adopted an ARM NO ONE attitude and while guns are legal for sport and hunting, you cant just walk around with a loaded weapon like you can in parts of america.

I'm not sure that's right. I think it's more the case that the Europeans adopted a disarm everyone policy. An armed population can challenge the state. Because of their written constitution (which we don't have) the Americans were unable to do this.

Take a moment to imagine the UK adopting the same policy of a Right to Bear Arms… Scary isn't it.

I'm shooting from the hip here (doh) but Americans were all armed before the constitution made it a right. It was the "wild west", full of outlaws, bears, and ethnics which had to be cleansed. The constitution didn't arm the population, but merely uphold the citizens right to defend themselves.

Imagine being told that as an individual you no longer have the right to defend yourself. You are obliged by law to give up your gun, knife, big stick etc and rely on the police and their CCTV to protect you. A criminal can still carry a weapon, so long as they don't get caught, and use it against you, while you wait for plod to rescue you. The police can arm themselves with truncheons, mace, tasers and at times guns but you can't.

I'm not sure which I fear most these days; someone breaking into my flat with menace or the legal consequences if I throw them down the stairs.

Please spare me the usual incredulity on this one (not you FLB:-), I'm only playing devil's advocate.

I'm sure it's legal to shoot a Welshman with a crossbow in Stoke if they are out after midnight.

Dam straight! Many a time you will see a Stokie out with his lurchers and a shovel taffy baiting after midnight.

to be fair i would have a gun if i could, but id keep it in my house an if sum cunt broke in tryin to steal my sony vega id shoot him...a few times!
but i cant have a gun, so instead if sum cunt breaks in tryin to steal my sony vega il get the WW2 sword i have in my front room and run him through with my blade lol
failing that il just kick the shit out of him and break his legs or sumit so he cant et away...then il get put in prison for 10years for gbh or sumit whilst the cunt that broke in my house gets to go back on to the streets rape a few people kidnap sum children sexually molester them then dump thier bodies in ditches across the shout east then hold up a few stores kill some more people till they finally get caught by the police. the police will then send them to a rehabillitation course because there is no room in any of the prisons and give him a suspended 12 month sentence...

by this time i may possibly be up for parole...

my point is, the state of the world we live in, i might as fuckin well get a gun to defend myself, cos if i dont sum other fucker will break in my house, steal my sony vega and then get me nicked for shooting at him.

People who can't spell or use punctuation shouldn't be allowed guns.

Oh wait, that obviously doesn't apply to most Americans

The legal consequences, you can't heal a criminal conviction.
