Squatting
This is a thread about stealing property, not toilet ettiquette.

thisislondon.co.uk

You have probably read about a gang of hippy artists that are breaking into mansions in Belgravia, Chelsea and Knightsbridge that are privatly owned and squatting there until they get evicted.

Scum or Heros?

Scum, clearly. It's breaking and entering and trespassing on private property.

Squatters rights are the most stupid thing ever. How can someone breaking the law have any rights whatsoever?

If squatters manage to stay in occupancy for 12 years on un registered land then they get the legal title of it. Now that doesn't seem right.

They are not even desperate homeless guys who are desperate for some shelter, they are lazy hippys. They claim to get in through unlocked doors and open first floor windows. The fact that they are going around looking for opportunities like this shows that they clearly have criminal intent.

Hmm. Have known squatters and have mates that have squatted before but I'm with you lot on it.

I say fair play to them!

Known a few squatters in my time, some through homelessness some just for sake.

OK, so it's wrong they break in in first place, but if the property is just being left to waste away and look a state in first place...

Me too!

We have all these massive buildings everywhere that have empty for years and we still have 150,000 people living on the streets!

I wouldn't have a problem if it's the people who are living homeless, but its usually some "artistic" dosser, or hippy who takes over these houses. I hope one day they enter a seemingly empty house only to be confronted by the heavies of the Russian mob. That would teach the fuckers!

We once squatted in a huge building for some rehearsal space, we only found out it was actually owned by an international hitman when he got cornered by Interpol and shot himself. I used to open his mail.

These aren't people from the streets - that's my problem with it. If they turned one of these building into a homeless shelter rather than art exhibition or hippy sanctuary then they would actually be doing something useful.

but likewise... we have all this unused space on the streets too.. seems like a fair use of said space!
