I orginally got into DJ-ing when the UK Garage wave hit London, it was the music of my time and my generation and it introduced me to clubbing. However I soon grew the need for something heavier and darker; I discovered Drum n Bass by accident when I walked into the wrong room in Bagleys and it hit me like a sledge hammer. I got into it at the the right time, Drum and Bass scene was just coming back into frution, as the Brazilian influence made it sexier and more appealing, it filled the niche that I needed at that time. I was hitting my first raves at 16, I was a regular at Movement, Best of British and One Nation. However with the birth of jump up along with the older DJ's and producers desire to keep on DJ-ing and making tunes when they should have retired, realising they were shit, gradually started I started to lose my true love for DnB.
Breakbeat came along just at the right time as my apathy was growing for Drum and Bass. I started hanging out more in the Breaks room than the DnB room at Fabric.
Then I found Techno when i went to Uni, the beat infected me deeply and left me battered and raped, my need for the tribal beats have become worse than a crack addiction and i'm totally hooked. Detroit is the purist form but the Brits and Germans can produce some great stuff as well. The newly found love of the 4x4 beat has lead me down other paths towards most of the houses (I still have no time for funky handbag shit). I now find it hard to mix one genre as the lines between house, techno, breakbeat and minimal seem increasingly blurred as idiots keep on creating sub-genres to make themselves sound original. Therefore I like my set to be as diverse as possible, reflecting the diversity of music I have liked thorughout my life.
Now i'm a Lost Soul and loving it. London's gonna lose its soul in a big way over the next few months as we start to dominate the scene. Big things are coming, the London club scene has become too commercial and full of under-talented overly image concious dj's , we here to take it back to the music and the party.
