Howdy! I'm Bart and I live in Ipswich, although you'll often see me practising the motto "don't stay in" somewhere in or around London. I'll mostly go to parties playing classic house, old skool hardcore, techno, hard/psy-trance or original happy hardcore / bouncy techno. My favourite events which I try not to miss are Promised Land, Raindance, Freeformation and (when they run a proper all-nighter and it doesn't clash with Promised Land!) Lost.
I've been DJing since 1996 although I stopped doing gigs and my college radio show some time ago and now just turn out occasional mixtapes (still using the original old skool format!). I'm currently focusing my interest on '87-'89 house and eclectic/classic Balearic chill but my collection spans everything from 70's b-boy funk breaks to '09 house and from minimal mmmbient to speedcore gabber! I freely admit that I'm a bit of a trainspotter and have spent countless hours working on the Discogs music database where I also have a few spare CDs for sale.
I've been raving for half my life now and I'm pleased to say that I've kept a list of every club, rave, gig and festival I've attended over the years. At last count there were over 750 listed - which is why I'm glad I kept a list since I couldn't remember half of them, even going au naturel!
Nostalgia ain't as good as it used to be (sorry, old joke!) but these are the parties that have meant the most to me during my raving career: Clueless at the Junction (Cambridge), Megadog at the Junction and at the Rocket (Islington), Final Frontier at Club UK (Wandsworth), Labrynth (Dalston and Tottenham), Escape From Samsara at the Fridge (Brixton), Pendragon at the Tyssen St Studios (Dalston) and their Carry On Regardless festies (Llanwrytd, Wales), United Dance and Slammin' Vinyl at Bagladies (King's Cross), Hardcore Heaven and Helter Skelter at the Sanctuary (Milton Keynes), Future Dance at the Castle Studios (Old Kent Rd) and at Bagladies, Back To 89 at the Camden Palace (Camden duh) and Raindance at the Drome / SEOne (London Bridge).
