A bit about Cecil-McCarthy

Cecil McCarthy was born in Malta in 1986 and has been dj’ing since the age of 15. At the present age of 20, he has achieved mass recognition on him home island since day one by playing at gigs such as Gatecrasher in Malta and Tribu Music Festival, performing alongside some of the industry's most respected foreign and local artists such as Steve Angello and Axwell from the Swedish House Mafia, Erick Morillo from Subliminal Records, Thomas Penton from Miami Florida and many more.

He started off his career by playing Funky/Classic House tunes at small events specially organized for teenagers. After a couple of months, he then managed to hook up with some of the Shazam promoters who at that time had started organizing some club nights at a couple of bars around the island, which also included Malta's superb pre-club/bar called Places. This eventually made him gain his weekly residency up till nowadays, playing alongside all top local DJ's.

Summer 2006 showed the first efforts of Cecil McCarthy's production, when he managed to qualify for a remix competition of X-Press 2 "Kill100", finishing amongst the top 10 qualifiers. By participating in the competition, Cecil managed to link up with the Sunlovers a.k.a Dub Deluxe from Lickin Records Germany, who gave Cecil the opportunity to officially release his first remix of Robert M a.k.a Electro One "It's For You Baby" that was also included together with the "Porno House EP" released in October 2006. The remix also received awesome backing from the likes of Noir, Dave Lambert, Moussa Clarke, Laidback Luke and many more. After the success of his first remix, Cecil was then contacted by Thomas Penton who offered him the opportunity to remix the 6th release of Electric Candy Records from Miami Florida. This release also featured the original mix of "Bring Me Back" by Thomas Penton which was then released on the 5th of February 2007 together with the support of various artists like Anthony Pappa, Nicky Delgado and David Gausa from Sutil Records - Barcelona and Sutil Sensations - Madrid.

Besides this, Cecil has also been putting a little back into the Maltese community by setting up his own DJ school back in 2004 at the Addiction record shop. Recently, he moved lessons to a different location at the Visage Sound Limited, where he continues to show the art of DJ'ing to all the people with a desire to learn the art of music engineering.

Cecil McCarthy's style can't be pigeon holed as he tends to blend in a mix of dirty disco, with tribal/progressive and electronic synths together with some dirty baselines. He plays that which makes the floor move by showing the mark of a quality upcoming DJ who is expanding his career, slowly but surely.
