Col The Medik Profile
BACKGROUND
My DJ name was easy for me to pick. At the time I was deciding on my name I was a paramedic. Enough said!! I've been djing for 8 years now. It all started when I was at the end of my service in the british army and decided I wanted more out of life when I became a civilian. Thats when I took my clubbing to another level and started on my quest to become a DJ. As with everything in life it's not been easy. However! I feel I have progressed through the years and now bring my own unique style to the scene. I got my first break when I was asked by a fellow DJ if I wanted a set at CRUNCH in birmingham. From that I was given a residency and regularly played at SCRUNCH which was in the dance factory in birmingham. Over the years I have held many residencies including Afters, Shaft, Dropzone, Toast, Inukshuk and Subway. In this time I have spent endless hours promoting myself by doing demo cd's and networking with clubbers, promoters and other dj's. My background also boast some promotion experience.
In 2001 I put an idea of mine into practice and I started a very popular harddance night in birmingham called Shaft. Shaft grew to be the biggest sunday hard dance club in the midlands. I was fortunate enough to get involved in events with clubs like GodsKitchen, Sundissential, Polysexual and Bring Back The Bounce and this helped boost the profile of shaft and with that also all the dj's involved. I have also been fortunate to be invited to play on Galaxy Radio 102.2 on their saturday night Sol Showcase hosted by Paul Kershaw. The show also hosted dj's like The Tidy Boys, Paul Van Dyke, Disco Brothers, Alex Kid. These were a big steps in helping me establish my fan base.
DJING STYLE:
My main genre is hard dance. I have a great passion for it. I think of my style of being a very unique one with tricks and qaulity tunes dropped in every time. A typical hard dance set of mine will consist of bootlegs and remixes of popular big tunes and quality up front tunes from producers I know. I like a vocal feel to alot of my sets. The tunes i play get plenty of hands in the air which i feel is what helps create a euphoric atmosphere and brings the crowd and I together which is an essential element of being an excellent DJ. I feel that is a main part of the DJ package I offer. Anyone can play time fillers. They are not what the crowd will remember you for. My sets progress and take the clubbers on a journey. Everyone has to be catered for.
FAVOUTIE LABELS:
Htuk, Honey Pot Records, K-Series, Masif, Nukleuz, Tidy, Voltkswagon, Edison Factor, Y2k, Sabotage and many more.
