My name is Craig lee. Im 27 years old and have been dj-ing for 9 years now.
Music has always been a great intrest to me and have grown up with it since I was 14 years old.
I first started mixing hard house music when I was 18 years old after experiencing Sundissential @ Pulse for the first time ever.
Tony De Vit and Andy Farley were the 2 Dj’s I took an inspiration to, like every other up and coming hard house DJ would.
I brought my first pair of belt drive decks a few months after Sundissential and started to collect records.
As time went on, I watched other DJ’s including Lisa Lashes, Fergie and BK, these didn’t really interest me, their style of hard house wasn’t the type I liked at the time, so I continued to watch De Vit and Farley.
I learned how to put hard house music together by repeatedly watching these DJ’s and then practising on my own.
I recorded a tape and took it to Leeds where the Promoter, Barry, of Totally Mashed aka Good Greef heard it being played in a mini bus and took a liking to it.
He booked me for Totally Mashed along side Alex Kidd and Eddie Halliwell.
Since then my practising started to pay off, I was receiving bookings from different clubs such as 2Klub where I played along side Ian M.
I have been playing in clubs for 7 years and have been booked along side some of the biggest names in hard house music, these include Paul Glazby, Nick Rafferty, Andy Farley, Jon Doe, BK and Lee Haslam.
Later on I got signed to One-Love promotions based in Mansfield, but also toured throughout the country, playing regular boat party’s and different events.
I went to Sundissential @ Que Club, Birmingham, Charlotte Birch was playing, Nick Rafferty was due on but was late, I took over from Charlotte Birch for ½ hour, I played in front of 2000 people and was the best experience of my DJ’ing Career.
I was then discovered by Birmingham DJ Chad Lewis who promoted the night ‘Blue’ at Subway city, I played all the major events including Birmingham Gay Pride and have played at Pride every year apart from this year.
A day time club called ‘SHAFT’ was opened at Radius in Birmingham, I appeared regularly at this event and started to get a little following and recognition, later on SHAFT stopped its promotions and a night called ‘SHINE’ was opened which my current manager, Tony Hunter’ promotes, this opportunity landed me an automatic residency with SHINE and I make appearances near enough every week, this helps my name and my ability to promote itself, and by me doing what I love doing the most.
I was then discovered by Steve NRG who is the owner of Twisted-djs, he recognised my ability to mix music and asked me to work for Twisted-djs which then hooked up with SHINE, Shenton who is also resident at shine introduced a frequent as part of Shine, none other than 'HELLBOUND', he made me resident and appear at most of the events and attracts a fantastic crowd wherever the event is held.
A few months on, myself and Hellbound promotor 'Shenton' were made residents of the famous super club 'sundissential' where i play the major events at 'Q-CLUB', Sanctuary and The Custard Factory in Birmingham. I am concentrating on my production work most of my spare time now so be sure to see some of my work out in the near future.
Chow for now.
