Me:
Well, hello all. I suppose I should make a couple of remarks about myself. Where to start? Hmm...
Ok, I'm originally from back in the US, Texas to be precise, although I've lived in San Francisco, San Jose, Detroit (please don't put your hands up - it sucks) and San Antonio. I got into the scene in the late 90's and caught some of the old skool Acid sound in warehouse parties here and there. I began DJing shortly after falling in love with the global phenomenon that we call "House" and haven't turned back since.
Shortly after getting my feet wet so to speak, I moved from Texas to Detroit where I fell into the harder side of house and techno. Juan Atkins and Derrick May were some of my early influences in the music. After a short stint in Detroit, I moved out to California where I started GoFed Productions and ran/maintained/started www.californiaraves.com w/ my good friend Will "Bubba" McGuire. Our primary purpose was to promote the scene through the only avenue at that time, yes the UNDERGROUND. At that time, the music wasn't in the clubs, and we were just trying to help perpetuate something that was much bigger than we ever imagined. After throwing successful nights out there for about a year, I decided it was time to take what I had learned and bring it back to the COWBOYS out in Texas. It was also at that time that house started to make a climb (slow but steady) into the American club scene, while the politicians were trying to rid us ravers of the planet!! Oh well!!!
I spent the next few years doing only what I knew, promoting the scene to anyone and everyone that would listen. (Cowboys can be a bit harder to influence than hippies in California or the godfathers in Detroit!!) All in all the scene grew and grew, and I was just happy to be a small part of it. It was at that time that I grew closer and closer to the Progressive House scene, where I stayed for about 5 years before picking up on Tech House, Electro, Bangin and Jackin' House. John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Sasha and too many more to name helped shape the musical taste that I still have today.
Well, after that I decided to move to Sunny England and see what the scene was like over here. In my 42 months in the country, I've seen and experienced quite a bit. There actually is something more than The Essential Mix!! (I think I was downloading that for about 6 years before coming here in 2003) I spent the first couple of years just taking it all in and trying to learn as much about the club scene as I could. I'm still learning more and more everyday.
So, the last year or so, I've started to try to get involved here as I was back in the states. As of now, I'm opening up my own label (Distorted Noise), have a weekly radio show on BassJunkees.com, promote now (Product, Distorted Noise, SP and others), work for Jesse Saunder's (creator of House) and Juan Atkin's (Godfather of Techno) label and agency (Just Say and Broken) and just try to give a little bit back to the scene.
I'm concentrating on DJing quite a bit, but my main focus is in the studio. I just want to be a part of this thing we all know and love. Hope to see you out sometime...Say hello or just give a nod.
