DJ Egg profile

Egg’s love of tunes began in ‘94 on discovering hardcore and over the next few years it developed into a way of life. By ‘98 at 15 he was mixing with a record collection built up along with his passion for music and his dream of being a DJ. With limited funds his setup grew from just a basic mixer, his Mum’s record player and a portable CD player. Having to save to buy 1 deck at time meant it took a while before he had a pair of Numarks to learn with. Buying new tunes became like an addiction and spending so much time in Correction Records meeting many people who share a love of dance music, making friends and learning from each other.

His first break came in Dec 2001 when a friend persuaded the promoter of Epic at the Craigmile to give him a set. The night was a success, despite his nerves he played well enough to be asked back on a monthly basis. Gaining his first residency was, after a while,going to boost to his confidence although the challenge of mixing in a club was quite daunting though very rewarding - a dream come true.

To raise his profile he recorded his first mix CD and handed out loads for free as fliers to promote his own night - Shaped at the Forum in July 2003. As a result of successfully headlining, a friend who was launching a new venue asked him to play on the first night. Impressed by his commitment to making the night a success ensured more bookings.

Taste became an established club and ended up being his responsibility. Running the night was an honour because he was trusted and only 21 years old to be given an invaluable insight into club promotion, people management, having to book DJs, sound equipment and for around about a year headlining many nights he established himself as a DJ in Aberdeen.

This has led to residencies at Hard Attack, The Pelican, Lo Down, Drum, IVY and most recent Budz bar..............Also many beach parties, forests and halls .

Big names DJ’s such as Rachel Auburn, Ilogik, Paul Glazby, Miss XS & Ed Real, Barry Diston, Rob Tissera, Amber D, Anne Savage, Technikal, kim Ayres, Kutski, Mark Sherry, Jason Cortez are on the list of nights DJ Egg has been involved with.

"I love Aberdeen, the clubbers know me and support they give me is amazing, I have always gave it 110% DJING, CLUBBING and support other local DJs - I just love my it so much. Despite this - the actions of certain nasty club promoters left me with no choice but to leave, has made me sad, another will not take me on board full time - time to move on!!!!!!
Alough I love it here, I feel whats the piont - I need a new challange because there is nothing more to do. Its great meeting big names but not if the club take the piss

I will head south, after 3 Tidy Weekenders and around 12 visits to events or clubs outside Scotland it so much bigger and I love that prospect ...... music production is first on my agenda......... BANGING TUNES!!!!!!!
