DJ EGG PROFILE
HOW IT ALL BEGAN -
DJ EGG'S love of tunes goes back to 1994 when he discovered HardCore and over the next few years, music developed into a way of life. By 1998, at an age of just 15, with limited funds his setup grew from just a basic mixer, his Mums record player and a portable CD player into a set of Numark turntables with a KAM mixer, then eventually Technics and pioneer.
Buying new records became like an addiction and he started spending a lot of time in his fav record shop - Correction Records back when vinyl was king! The shop has closed now but it was a great place not just for buying records, it also was where many people who share a love of dance music met which really helped to network and learn!
DJING CLUB EXPERIENCE -
His first club break came in Dec 2001 when a friend persuaded the promoter of Epic at the Craigmile to give him a set. The night was a success, despite his nerves he played well enough to be asked back on a monthly basis. The next step was to promote his own night - Shaped at the Forum in July 2003. After impressing a friend, who was launching a new hard dance night called Taste, he was asked to play on the first night soon leading to a weekly residency!!
Showing a keen commitment and positive input behind the scenes responsibility for the club was handed over to him. Promotion, door staff, equipment, contracts ect had to be sorted every week and all whilst being resident DJ. Booking & warming up for big names such as Rachel Auburn, Ilogik, Paul Glazby, Ed Real & Miss XS.
With residencies at clubs & nights such as Hard Attack, The Pelican, Lo Down, Drum, Kode, The Tunnles & Budz bar where he has warmed up for Anne Savage, Amber D, Mark Sherry, Jason Cortez, Rob Tissera, Kutski, Kym Ayres, Barry Diston, Technikal to name a few.
After meeting on-line, DJ GEM STONE was booked to play Aberdeen in 2008 on a night called Nebula. This was a successful night and GEM STONE, who owns RAW POWER RECORDINGS alongside STEVE HEWITT, are now close friends with EGG - they have been a massive asset to his music due to their experience and production skills!!!!
DJ EGG's newest club night promotion is called CATCH 22. A new era for Aberdeen's hard dance scene has begun, with TONY G - a young, dedicated & talented dj by his side - the future looks brighter. Watch this space!!!
THE MUSIC, PRESENT & FUTURE -
Playing a wide range of genres - Trance, Techno, Hard House, Hard Trance & Freeform. DJ EGG prides himself on being totally comfortable whilst mixing a bridge from one style into another! He can adapt to suit the situation, create smooth set programming and understands his music more because of this.
As enthusiastic as ever, with this open minded take he has recorded over 30 mixes to date and has evolved with every one. To showcase his veriety of styles, he recently created a four hour, 56 track, 5 genre mix adding to his impressive mix recording arsenal.
After DJing for 13 years, production of his own music is now where the future is directed for DJ EGG. He has collaborated with Steve Hewitt for his first tune production called OPEN SESAME and is currently working on more tracks - stay tunned for updates!!
