It all started for escape back in 1988 where he started messing about with hip hop, techno and acid house on his brother’s (T-zone) technics. It wasn’t until he started at secondary school his passion for music grew. None of his mates were in to hardcore but that soon changed. A few weeks after passing round tapes at school his mates were hooked. The djing stopped around 93 when he brother moved out and took his decks with him. 1995 was when things started to happen. On visiting pure records he bumped into to mc lenni who gave him the name dj younga zone due to his older bro who worked at the shop being called t-zone. After school mixing sessions with his mates soon followed. It wasn’t until he bumped into hazard at the porche club were things changed. Both were you broke djs hungry for success. Escape joined hazard on his weekly radio show on unity fm. This was the only dnb show on a ragga dominated station. The show lasted about 4/5 months till both djs left. Koolfm midlands was on air and it was hard to compete with them. Escape after sending in 5 demos and running up a massive phone bill got a show on koolfm midlands in July 1996. This show went out live every Saturday morning from 9-11am.
Escape started on Kool Fm midlands under the name of Younga Zone, but after some thought and good advice from pugwash of joker records fame changed it to DJ Escape. Hard work and effort over the years saw better shows till he settled on Sundays 8-10pm with mc biggie. The station sadly came to an end in 2002 and escape went on to join silk fm playing the only dnb show in Birmingham where he can still be found today.
Promoting raves in around Birmingham boosted his dj profile even more and led him to dj ing all over the uk as well as abroad and finding the time to set up 2nd strike records. The label only had one release (dj hazard you ready/ metallic blue) due to distribution problems. Shortly after he was involved with 3D Mode recordings which features other Kool Fm Midlands artists such as Devize, Skitty, Biggie , Hazard to name a few as well as new talent. 2006 saw escape set up a brand new label called muzik hertz which he plans to release quality drum & bass from local and international artists as well as him self in the near future.
