A bit about DJMace

Entrapped by this musical madness at the early age of 11 and inspired by the likes of Grooverider, Fabio, Lennie De Ice (We are E !), Kid Batchelor, Top Buzz, Carl Cox and the legendary Sterns nightclub in his hometown of Worthing, his devotion to the music was cemented.

'Mace' picked up his first pair of decks at the age of 12 and was toying with beats & breaks on his old Commodore 64, a few years later at just 14 Mace linked up with Rok One, Richard Scott, Quantum and Skinny (who is now known as Nu-balance) and began playing at regular nights 'Junge Pressure' and 'Steppaz Convention' in Brighton.

Following this at 15 he produced his first Jungle D & B track entitled 'Reminiscence' which was picked up buy Kenny Ken as the second release on his Mix & Blen' imprint, this move forward into production led Mace on a mission and after leaving school at 16 he joined a Music Production course in East London where he learned more skills and techniques.

In the meantime Maces DJ career was still staying strong with regular work in the UK/Europe, various pirate stations including Rude 104.3FM London aswell as winning best up and coming Drum & Bass DJ on Londons Kiss 100 FM at the age of 16...

After 3 years studying music production and sound design Mace picked up a National Diploma in Music and his production career was moving ahead at steam with many releases and collaborations with Kenny on his Mix & Blen' label.

15 years down the line in 2007 Mace has had many releases and remixes for a variety of Drum & Bass labels including Fabios Creative Source label, Brian Gees Movement label and Formation Records and played to crowds worldwide from the USA labels tours to Europe and beyond aswell as radio work on BBC 1Xtra, Juice FM (Brighton), Kiss 100 and Galaxy FM (Leeds).

'Planet Funk Recordings' was set up by Mace in 2002 to try and bridge the gap between the hard edged dancefloor sound and the more soulful musical side of the scene, primarily pushing a dancefloor orientated vocal sound, artists so far have included 'Ed Funk' / 'Dice' / 'Supply & Demand' / 'Xample & Sol' / 'Peshay' / 'The Outfit' / Contour / SS and of course Mace himself.

The label has since progressed into its own sound and style with DJ support from all the main players in the scene including Fabio & Grooverider, Brian Gee, Kenny Ken, High Contrast, LTJ Bukem and Nicky Black Market to name a few.

Future releases are constantley in the pipeline at the Mix & Blen' and Planet Funk studios, with a string of forthcoming releases on various labels....Mace and the Mix & Blen' / Planet Funk family is here to stay!
