Dedicated to the music and giving the people what they want to hear on a good night out. Known for his uplifting bouncy style Dom works endlessly to keep updated with what’s new and happening on the scene. Since the age of sixteen Dom has been interested in DJing, he followed the career of Dave Oldershaw and turned up at all of his gigs to learn ‘the art’ from him. In 2000 after being lent a set of decks Dom became hooked on DJing, he spent the next six months buying vinyl and practising his mixing at every opportunity. Six months of mixing every day over and over, Dom set up a few low key bar parties and DJ’d for mates at house parties. Still following the club scene Dom met a promoter at Subway City who listened to a demo and decided to play him in the main room at Subway City in Birmingham. After a couple of gigs at Subway Dom landed his first paid gig at Soba, Birmingham, he then went on to do a few gigs at the Merchant Stores (now Obar) on Broad Street, Birmingham. Dom also played a residency during this time at Bar St. Martins in Stourbridge for seven months. During this time ‘Mission’ was launched in Bedford where Dom played to a capacity of 2000. Spurred on by this he set up his own club night with Dave Oldershaw and Alex Schmitz. Knowing that he was dedicated to following his DJing and realising the work that needed to be put in to be successful Dom decided to build his own recording studio. It took seven months to build and another eighteen months to get it fully equipped and set up. During this time ‘Voodoo’ was launched at Bar Mango in Reading by Graham Gadd (founder) and his old mate Dave Oldershaw (resident dj). Dom went every month to watch the DJing, network and to chance a spin on the decks. In March 2008 on the back of the success of Voodoo, Voodoo Dolls was set up – an all female DJ night – Dominatrix was born..Dom played the headlining set as Dominatrix, in drag to get noticed. It worked the promoter of Voodoo booked Dom, to play as himself for a gig in July at Bar Mango for Voodoo. From this he got a regular slot at voodoo and was made resident for Voodoo’s sister night ‘Tut Tut’, also at Bar Mango in the main room, where he plays every month. With the success of Voodoo it was taken to the House and Terrace club in Greennwich where Dom played on the terrace to 800 people in November 2008. This gained him residency at the ‘House and Terrace club’, he played there again in December in the main room with non other than Mark Wilkinson (Dab Hands / kiddology) and is due to play there again in January 2009 @ THAT (in bed with space). Eager to spread the Voodoo vibe Dom has set up his own night at a club in Birmingham which will bring Voodoo to Brum once a month. Ever keen to learn more about music and DJing Dom is now looking to music production. In the last six months Dom has brought two producers into his studio who work there in return for tuition in music production.
