A bit about DrLB

Hello! I got into the dance scene late - after everyone else was well and truly tanned from the summer of love an' all that... was too busy having babies and going to crap commercial clubs in the late 80's/ early 90's. I was always the one who sat and minded the drinks while my mates danced to Abba and shite, thinking "SURELY there's more to clubbing than this?" And there was.... Met my husband (a veteran of the scene) when I turned 30 and he took me underground, where you could wear trainers and silly fun clothes and jump up and down to very fast repetitive music hurrah!! My first rave was Fishtank - gawd bless its soul and RIP :o( and well, I havent looked back since.

Only problem with being an old bird (36 at last count) - apart from needing not much short of rocket fuel to keep me going all night and feeling like utter death for days afterwards - is everyone seems to be calming down and having their babies now and we have fewer and fewer people to go out with. Sigh. I suppose I'll be going out with my kids next. NOT. I mean some people do it and its fine for them, but I say its all a bit strange....

I think my best clubbing injury (apart from several million dead brain cells) was a burned retina from staring 'wide-eyed' at the pretty lasers. Too many amusing moments to recall in 5000 characters but my husband puking on a fox coming out of the SE1 in London has got to be up there (we were coming out of the club, not the fox) and losing one of my socks whilst off my face on Absinthe in Prague in the middle of winter is another one... to my knowledge I didnt take my boots off; let alone items of underwear. Hmmmm. Maddest night out? Flew to Amsterdam to go to a warehouse party in the suburbs we saw adertised on the Internet and came home the next day. The Dutch thought we were completely insane.... best festival has to be Global Gathering 2005. Was worried I'd never feel joy again after that one!!! Priceless moments... Sunrise to "Cafe Del Mar" Haad Rin beach, Koh Phangan, Thailand...

Anything else you need to know about me? I have a PhD in Business & Management Studies, that's pretty interesting... hence my DSI name of 'DrLB' - what the LB stands for is you'll have to guess. And I get totally freaked out when I look up at the stars because it scares the hell out of me that we have no f*cking idea where this planet is and what's out there. FAR too existentially enormous for my brain to cope with. What's currently bothering me is "when does looking-good-for-your-age-and-being-young-at-heart morph into mutton-dressed-as-lamb?"

Oh and I think I am awesome with a pair of glo-sticks (and no-one will EVER convince me otherwise) and do a mean karoake of Alanis Morisette's "You Oughta Know..." which is quite simply the best F*CK ALL MEN tune ever.

Plans for the future? Pay off our mortgage in 15 years and go and live on Koh Phangan in Thailand. OK its not particularly original but if you've ever been there you'll understand....
