About The Evolution Experience

The Evolution Experience was founded in 2000 by Gigawatt Concerts organisers Thomas Sinclair Jnr and John Lee who had realised there was a market for clubbing events in their hometown of Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. After consulting with the local council, the first event took place at The Kings Function Centre, Hakin, Milford Haven on Saturday 4th August 2000. The venue was a licensed 960 capacity venue on the outskirts of town. The venue, divided into three areas, the largest being a 600 capacity hall with stage, was sold out on the first event. Events continued at the venue until is was closed down in the spring 2002, and the land sold off for development. From there The Evolution Experience, by this time a limited company, Evolution Event Promotions Ltd, expanded their operations into the county town of Haverfordwest.

On 30 March 2002 Evolution’s biggest event, Terminal One, was launched. The name being a play on the fact the event was taking place in an aircraft hanger. That event went down in history as West Wales’ biggest ever party with over 2000 people turning up to see the likes of PPK – number one in the UK mainstream charts at the time – perform along the likes of Alex P and other famous DJs. On 11th May 2002 the second Terminal One event took place this time with a bigger line up of Dave Pearce, Lisa Lashes and others performing to another large crowd.

However, economic conditions in Pembrokeshire took a rapid turn for the worse with the closure of the ITV Digital call centre the largest employer in the area. That coupled with noise complaints from nearby residents in Haverfordwest made further large scale events at that venue unlikely.

The Evolution Experience expanded further in 2003 and this time started to promote large scale events at The Fridge Nightclub in Brixton London. Chart toppers Cosmic Gate played alongside old skool DJs such as DJ Slipmatt and Billy “Daniel” Bunter. After a falling out with the council in Pembrokeshire after they blocked Evolution’s attempts to re-open a nightclub in Tenby, Pembrokeshire the team looked abroad to new markets to continue to promote its unique style of events.

In 2004 The Evolution Experience conducted its first international tour of Hong Kong and Mainland China. In 2005 and 2006 the company continued to pursue its goals in the orient. 2007 saw the company stike up deals with the largest clubs in Guangzhou, China which will allow the newly formed Evolution Experience Asia brand to promote regular events in the city from late 2008. The Evolution Experience also formed into The Evolution Experience UK PLC in 2007 which allows its shares to be sold to the general public for the first time.

The Evolution Experience has a close knit team of twenty people who organise, promote, manage and perform at the events with most of the team being the original organisers of the first events eight years ago.
