Gary has been experimenting with music from the tender age of 7. Sundays would see him locked into Radio 1’s charts show, recording & cutting tracks to make his very own mix tapes! Gary’s passion for music grew throughout his whole childhood seeing him taking a particular fancy to the likes of Carl Cox & Tony De Vit which seen him develop an obvious interest in nights such as the Rezurection & Judgment Day. At the age of 16 Gary had his first set of Turntables, this opened a whole new world & seen him experimenting with music in the way he had always wanted through following his idols in childhood gaining inspiration from the likes of: Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Judge Jules & Mauro Picotto. Attending local nights such as the legendary ‘Promise’ & ‘Shindig’ enabled Gary to feed his appetite for the music he loved. Having the opportunity to catch some of the worlds biggest DJ’s on a weekly basis in his own City were so influential in shaping his career to date. Tirelessly Analyzing mix tapes & CD’s from where ever he could get his hands on them, he would put what he’d heard at the weekend to practice through the week with countless hours spent on his Turntables.

2005 seen Gary reap the rewards for his self taught Skills & Technical abilities where he finally got his break into Clubland, by chance he’d been asked to play for a local night at what turned out to be one of Newcastle’s longest standing & Premier Nightclubs – The World Head Quarters. It wasn’t long before his talents were picked up & embraced by one of the UK’s leaders in the Dance Music Industry – Goodgreef, where a competition was held in the area in search of a new Resident DJ. Firing his way through a 3 deck mix, layering tracks with samples, effects & with lightening speed cuts & chops, constantly manipulating the music Gary wowed clubbers & had an instant dazzling effect on Goodgreef Director Barry Almond who was keen to snap up the Local Lad. Since being under the Goodgreef wing Gary has played some of the best clubs the Length & Breadth of the UK including the 7000 capacity Talltrees & Digital Nightclub (Newcastle) which was voted the 15th best Club in the world by DJ Mag! In the summer of 2007 he made also made his debut at his first Festival (Kiddstock) featuring alongside some of the big hitters in the Hard Dance Industry.

To date Gary has had the privilege of playing for brands such as Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Goodgreef, Fire it Up & has had the pleasure of being billed alongside the likes of Eddie Halliwell, Yoji, Alex Kidd, Matt Hardwick, Scott Bond, John Askew, Greg Downey, Sean Tyas, Menno De Jong, Cosmic Gate, John O'Callaghan, Jon O'Bir, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Super8 & Tab, Activa, Riley & Durant, Adam Sheridan, Aly & Fila, Mark Norman, Marc Van Linden, Fred Baker, Mac Zimms & Simon Patterson to name but a few! what makes his Diary even more impressive is that Gary has yet to approach a promoter with a Promo mix! he has forged his reputation solely through DJ’ing performances, impressing clubbers with mind boggling tricks & jaw dropping showcases. On the production side of things Gary is just breaking into a whole new world & has just remixed the classic: Dick Van Nille - Outside which seen the track make its way into non other that Paul Van Dyks record box! & being dropped at non other than the infamous Cream closing party Amnesia!

Now Aged just 25 Gary Proud is regarded as one of the best up and coming DJs in the Country. With residencies for Goodgreef (NE) & the recently revived legendary Promise! Gary is fast growing a fan base. His ability to cross from a punchy warm up to full throttle Trance never fails to impress making him a proven firm favorite by Goodgreef. As well as his residencies Gary has played internationally on numerous occasions, sparking nothing but positive feedback improving his profile even more. 2008 is set to be Gary’s best year yet, with gig offers getting bigger and better. A definite talent that can’t be ignored 'Gary Proud' is fast becoming a name on all promoters lips.
