A bit about James-Ellis

Hi folks...

In case you don't know me...er....... I'm a DJ. (yawn.....) I am 102 years old and I live in the lovely regency town of Cheltenham, but i don't spend much time there on the weekends....

I play regularly for nights like Sundissential (resident since winning their DJ comp in 2004), Wildchild, Bionic, B2T, Afters, BLUE (resident), and have appeared at Frantic, Storm, Slinky, Goodgreef, Polysexual, Koolwaters, X-static, Evolve and many others... I am the lucky recipient of the Subway City Best DJ 2007 and Subway City Best DJ 2006 awards. Might not mean much to some, but its a true underground Birmingham venue that i have long admired from afar even before i started this journey, and its a place that DJs and Gods like Andy Farley and Tony De Vit were once honed. Subway's main monthly Saturday event BLUE, has been running now for almost 11 years! Subway City is now host to the legendary B2T - another top event i have the honour of performing at! (Strange Dave.. legend..)

Some upcoming events:

Musically - I play a few different hard dance styles depending on the crowd, but mainly uplifting, vocal and not too filthy.. I like to be versatile and eclectic, it has helped me get where i am today! I've done few cheeky productions with legend in the making Tom Berry - energetic and stompy bootlegs of classics like "Traffik", "Luvstruck" and "The Launch", so listen out for some huge build-ups and ridiculously catchy riffs and samples.

Our first (and long overdue) original production "3 Phase" is just released on Breed Digital, available to download from Tidy Digital and Trackitdown.net:

I used to dance a lot before i started DJing and have been hooked on hard dance music since i was 17 (many moons ago) when chemical enhancements did pleasure me greatly. Constant weekend abuse has opened up a little porthole inside my brain which will never ever close, and as a result i get almost orgasmic pleasure from hearing hard euphoric dance music being played very loud. So dont ask me why i always wear such baggy jeans ok.

I don't dance quite as much these days, but i get even more satisfaction from being one of the lucky gits going slowly deaf in the DJ booth. Now i tend to just wander around if i'm not playing and talk to people and grin a lot.. i grin a lot when i'm out apparently. I also sound like Judge Jules apparently (thanks Vince!)

Come and say hello if you see me out! Better still, take my photo, so i get a chance to grin again!

If ya wish to know more about me, visit my website as many before you have, you can see pics, checky my gig diary, and download some of my mixes. One day maybe download James Ellis wallpapers - depending on how vain and charitable i'm feeling....(uh oh, too late...) www.djjamesellis.net

Other sites of interest to you may be those of 2 wicked photograpers, Nat Rodley: www.blinkofaneyephotography.co.uk and Poland's finest and friendliest export Jarek aka Jelo: www.jelozone.com

Thanks for reading, now you know a bit about me. Doesn't mean ya can be my buddy yet though....
