JP & Jukesy Biography - DJS/Producers/Label Owners/Promoters
Bodie & Doyle, Starsky & Hutch, Salt & Pepper - complementary opposites; when you think of one, you think of the other. The same applies to JP & Jukesy - the DJ duo whose meteoric rise through the ranks of hard-house DJs is the result of a union which delivers intelligent, powerful, addictive and crowd-pleasing sets wherever they play.
A chance meeting through a mutual friend some four years ago whilst out clubbing at Sundissential North is where it all began. Almost immediately the pair recognised that they had complimentary musical interests; both considered (and still consider) Andy Farley as being inspirational in their clubbing lives; both had taken a keen interest in DJing and both enjoyed their hobby as bedroom DJs. JP and Jukesy hit it off instantly.
Their success can be partly attributed to the fact that they are extremely proficient and knowledgeable DJs across the entire scope of hard-house. They are also natural clubbers at heart and when they play, they do so knowing exactly what their audience want to hear. Together, they are as natural as cheese & biscuits, Batman and Robin, or Del Boy and Rodney; and like these examples JP and Jukesy are have different personalities and qualities which compliment each other - by capitalising on each others strengths they are a collective - an amalgam which is neither one nor the other but a combination of the two. This is the trademark style of JP & Jukesy.
The last five years have seen the pair go from strength to strength, picking up huge swathes of fans on their way... message boards regularly feature praising and glowing feedback from clubbers who have just experienced a JP & Jukesy set, thus making them a promoters dream. Those who were at Tidy Weekender 5 will remember the duo's storming bounce set which secured almost obligatory inclusion on future Tidy events. Appearances at Frantic, Polysexual, Slinky, Wildchild and international gigs as far a field as Canada, Norway, Ibiza and Australia serve to underline JP & Jukesy's popularity. Appearing on line-ups with every single A-List DJ of which include the likes of their hero Andy Farley, the mighty Paul Glazby and our own Tidy Boys is further evidence that when it comes to putting a star studded line-up together, JP & Jukesy are a natural must have for promoters. They are up there with the big boys (and girls!) in a highly competitive market place. .
But DJing is just part of the JP & Jukesy story. Despite a packed diary, the lads have an impressive back-catalogue of production credits. Following their first successful releases on Passion Records (How I feel and H-Bomb both supported by DJs such as Eddie Halliwell and Amber D) they decided to launch their own labels Deprivation, Deprived of Funk & Deprivation LTD. These cutting-edge independent labels have enjoyed unprecedented success, and has so far seen producers such as OD404, Andy Farley, Paul Glazby, Justin Bourne and Tara Reynolds feature on the list of star studded line up which could continue for some time, album compilations including the massive Lashed series, Tidy & Extreme Euphoria & the Vicious Collection is clear to see why Deprivation is highly regarded as one of the most consistant labels in the scene.
Being signed up to Tidy's DJ Management in 2005 was a major turning point in JP & Jukesy's career. 2006 saw a tour of Canada and a record number of DJ bookings for prestigious events such as Creamfields, Escape in the Park, Global Gathering, Frantic, Polysexual, Goodgreef, Slinky, Hardsouth, Tranzaction, Parlez Vouz and of course Tidy London and the Tidy Weekenders. Their TW10 set was recorded live to become JP & Jukesy's first commercially mixed CD; an impressive year and rightfully so. As for what 2007 may have in store? Well, one thing is for sure, JP & Jukesy are continuing their meteoritic rise and are justifiably appearing on even more big event line-ups than ever before. If you're yet to see JP & Jukesy, then you're yet to experience a duo that are ripping up dance floors wherever they play. We predicted 2005 would be their year. But not even we could have predicted the success JP & Jukesy experienced in 2006. So as for 2007, all we will say is watch out, JP & Jukesy are about, and they'll be coming to a top night near you soon. Miss them at your peril.
