Born in Calgary, Justin Gettings lived in Canada for six years before moving to
Guernsey in the Channel Islands with his family. It was in Guernsey that Justin
first became fully immersed in sound. Justin later enrolled on a music tech course
in the West Countries very own City of Bristol.
It was here that Justin started promoting one of the cities most popular club nights "Buoyancy".
Buoyancy has been successfully putting on events on boats, in clubs, under bridges and in forests
since 2003. Still going strong Buoyancy has some extremely exciting parties planned for 2009….
During this time Justin has had the pleasure of DJing along side some of the most innovative and
talented DJs and artists around including, The Glimmers, Jimpster, Touche, Spirit Catcher, Justice,
Jody (Way out West), Chris Duckenfield, Jamie Anderson, Switch, Anni Mac, Ame, Luke Solomon,
Style of Eye, Riton, Ben Watt, Silver City to name just a few!
On the DJing front Justin is very excited about becoming a new resident at one of South of England's
best club nights "Switch" where he will kick off his residency this February with Deetron. www.myspace.com/switchclubnight
Using all of these influences to his full advantage Justin has expanded his knowledge into music
production and is currently collaborating on joint projects with various top producers as well as
concentrating on his own material which in the past has been described as “a fusion of techy, glitchy goodness, sometimes deep, sometimes epic but always maintaining the fundamental element of groove”.
With Justin’s first solo release on Quimika Records under his JG Alim guise being played on dance
floors from Stockholm to Santiago and with his new release "Make Your Mind Up" dropping on
Nathan Coles and Terry Francis's Wiggle Records imprint this is one producer to keep both eyes
on in 2009.
