Hi, I'm Mikey

I've been a working DJ for around 15 years, and a devoted music lover for longer than I can remember. My tastes are very varied, and I'm willing to give just about any style a listen, electronic or not, since a big part of the excitement of music is (to me at least) discovering new sounds and influences. It's something I'm very passionate about and which inspires me more than anything else, so meeting like minded people is always a pleasure.

Back in my early teens I was introduced to what was then broadly termed 'rave' and 'hardcore'. Having grown up so far listening to my dad's collection of Led Zep, David Bowie, and The Police records with the added element of 80's pop, hip hop, and commercial dance, it was unlike anything I'd previously been exposed to. The exciting and fresh new sound left an instant imprint, and it's one that changed the direction the rest of my life would take.

Over the years since first getting hold of a pair of decks I've played a wide range of genres. But it's D&B, breakbeat and other bass fueled styles that have really steered my direction. In recent times my biggest association has been with Silo Recordings - the label I launched back in 2006 which has grown ever since and continues to go from strength to strength... more about that below.

At 15 I got my hands on my first set of decks, and soon afterwards I stepped into putting on small local parties. By 18, in the late 90's, I'd moved onto co-promoting my first club nights in Kettering at the now defunct Club XS, featuring DJs the town had never seen the likes of before such as an upcoming talent named Anne Savage and D&B don Nicky Blackmarket.
