Im now 28 years old, been following the dance scene from the ealry age of just 12, started off by hearing a fantazia tour tape my mate brought back from bournemouth, wasn't even mixed hehe also it was the first time I ever heard Live PA of Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy a tune which got me hooked from the off.
After much money spent on tapes I developed a taste for the hardcore scene which took me onto 1994 when I was first introduced to Tony DeVit, after much arguement with a mate I was finally converted from hardcore to the house scene and started to follow the likes of Ark, Life & Moneypennys to name but a few. My hunger for the scene grew and I spent tons of $ on tapes and tickets for events, I was drawn towards the heavy hitters of the time inc. Tony, Judge Jules, Jon Pleased, John Kelly, Danny Rampling etc etc......
As the years passed and Tony's style developed with a harder than hard edge so did my taste alter, although still following the more mellow sound I was heavily drawn to the world of hardhouse, my favourite artists during this time were Tony, Pete Wardman, Baby Doc, Ian M, Andy Farley etc. More and more new artists were appearing on the scene and everything was taking a new and interesting turn.
1998 Tony DeVit passes on, what more can be said that already hasn't been said by countless people, the guy is a legend and is sorely missed. The whole scene was turned on its heads after this day, everything went to trance and for a couple of years so did I.
The year 2000 and hardhouse is back on track and with a new twist more bouncy and a very fun appeal about it all, Im liking the sound and trance for me at the time was losing its appeal. As the next two years roll out, hardhouse is been spilt into many subgenres we all know now ie Harddance, NRG, Bounce they scene is been blended with lots of colabs and everythings a mix, at the time I dont think the majority of people were sure what they were listening to but it was ripping dancefloors apart nationwide :D
Majority of people who follow the scence know the rest from 2002 so I wont bore ya no longer with the things you know ;)
2005 I discover the world of livesetsonline.com, I start off by giving a few ideas towards developing the site and turns out the chap which owns the site is a really sound guy from Holland, we get chatting and I land a moderators job on the site looking after the sections I helped develop, over the next year together we develop the forum into what you people see today, it covers all major forms of dance music with over 24,000 active users. The strictness of the site is controlled by our excellent team of moderators we allow only livesets, radio recording or promosets on the site, we hate the fact that the scene we love it been destroyed from the inside by some SCENE GROUPS.
Anyway its now 2007 and Im all grown up, my tastes over the years have grown with me and Im now into all styles of dance music, from networking Ive chatted to some of the key players on the scene as well as some up & coming artists worldwide, wanting to put a bit back to the dj's I started to develop a few pages on bebo and alike, this eventually landed me the job with Alex Kidd to whom Im very greatful, livesetsonline is progressing and I no longer need to be on there that much anymore due to our amazing team, we have a affiliate with trackitdown.net also which as been a big step from the underground.
2008 and beyond, well with landing the job working for Alex and his own career kicking off majorly who knows where this is going to lead me, all I do know is Im loving the scene just as much as I ever have done and can't wait to see whats ahead of us all.
