Hardcore / Hard Dance / Trance

DJ / Promoter / Producer : Gloucester, UK

My first taste of dance music came when I was just a kid. I can remember listening to old skool rave tunes on the radio. I finally became hooked on the dance scene when I borrowed the Hardcore album Bonkers 1 (on tape!!!) from my next door neighbour. I was brought a pair of decks the following Christmas and didn't look back.

I DJ'd at many free parties playing Happy Hardcore. However the flow of Hardcore music began to slow when the scene declined, it was then I began playing a mixture of Trance & Hard Dance. Again I was playing at free parties week in week out. At this time I also began promoting small scale mixed genre under 18's events.

Towards the end of 2001 I started receiving club bookings, and played Trance / Hard Dance sets at numerous venues throughout the country. I also continued with promoting by putting on many different types of events.

It was also at this time the Hardcore scene had a resurgence due to certain artists introducing a more mature trance led sound. I loved this new style of Hardcore and once again I jumped back into the Hardcore scene, however this time around I was purely a raver as I still wanted to continuing playing / promoting other genres of dance music.

I continued DJ'ing and promoting up until the middle of 2004, as I decided to take a break to concentrate on my personal life. I continued to attend Hardcore events and kept up to speed with the music.

In Sept 06 a friend of mine had a DJ cancel on him for a D&B event. He called me and I decided I would help him out. I borrowed his vinyl and before I knew it I had the DJ bug again. I enjoyed playing D&B that night but knew this time around I wanted to play Hardcore; the music that made me fall in love with the dance scene at the beginning.

I brushed up on my skills and by the end of 2006 was playing at free parties again. In April 2007 I started taking bookings and began playing Hardcore at various venues around the country.

It was also at this time I started my own Hardcore event - Full Throttle. I started this because at the time there were no Hardcore / Hard Dance events in Gloucestershire. As this was the area that I lived in I thought it was only right to give the local ravers what they wanted. The first night was a massive success!

It was around this time I met DJ Intox who promoted the Monkey Wrenched parties. He also lived locally and we decided to join forces and hosted a party called Eccentric. The night was a success however we decided Full Throttle was already a recognised name and he came on board with me to promote future events.

Throughout the rest of 2007 we took Full Throttle on tour to join up with other South West promotions, and I also promoted a few multi genre dance parties. I also continued to push myself DJ wise and played at many different venues (including the Bristol Academy) and gained several residencies.

2008 was a good year. I received bookings most weekends for numerous promotions around the country. Me and Intox also continued to push the Full Throttle promotion with some massive parties in Gloucestershire and tour parties in conjunction with other South West promotions.

During 2008 I also joined forces with Ralph Mignano (HDQ) and Reegz to promote the Stayhardcore launch party. This was also the first ever hardcore event at The Syndicate Superclub in Bristol, the night was a huge success.

I also promoted the first Re-Activation party at Lakota in Bristol alongside Ralph, Reegz and Chris Outburst. With a massive line up and an awesome lighting show this event was also a massive success.

I decided at this point I wanted to concentrate on promoting events in Gloucestershire. Therefore I left the promotion teams for Stayhardcore and Re-Activation to focus on promoting Full Throttle with Intox.

2009 looks set to be another good year. Myself and Intox have numerous events planned at Dakota nightclub in Cheltenham throughout the year. We have also began playing back to back and you will be able to catch us playing some storming sets at venues near you!

We have also hit the studio this year. Our first track - Abuse Me has been slammed by numerous up and coming DJ's. More tunes will follow throughout the rest of the year!
