Been DJ'ing for about seven years or so, and play mainly dark progressive house, blended with some deep tribal house. More recently I've started adding some harder electro/breakbeat for a slightly different angle to a tried and tested theme, which I think works really well and always gets a great response from the crowd.
I know many other DJ's that swear by their CD decks and who can use them to great effect - but I still prefer to mix my own sets using vinyl. I personally think you are more hands on in controling the mix, and can get a better "feel" for the tune.
I like playing a deeper vibe earlier on in the night, but where I'm really in my element is peak-time. I like tunes with a darker edge to them, but that still let you get totally lost and absorbed in. My DJ influences are John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Andy Wetherall and the majority of the Global Underground/Destinations series. Dark and dirty all the way!!
