Hi Girls and Boys,
I use to promote back in the heady days when raves were illegal and clubs didn't know what house music was, 87 onwards up to 1997 when we achieved the penultimate promotion at Ministry with "World Aids Day" that December, which has now gone on to be World Aids Day (1st Dec.). MTV broadcasting the event, Kiss FM and a whole host of top DJ's (Norman Jay, Seb Fontaine, John Kelly, Graham Gold, Rude Boy Rupert, Chrissy T, Bobby & Steve) we invited to play, as well as our home grown DJ, The Analysir who had his room packed out from start to fininsh. This was the first AIDS day promoted since Live Aid in 1985 Promoted by Sir Bob Geldof. We wanted to keep the awarness programme going as the death toll for this virus was still increasing.
On the way I had a record shop called Staxs Records, the only underground record shop in Crawley, one of a very few in Sussex and Surrey at that time, after Fat Cats left for London, and really increased my music promotions from there, starting with The Gatwick Manor (The first real "House" night in Crawley, one of a very few in Sussex and Surrey in the early 90's) and met friends and DJ's on the way through the years, some of which are still good friends now. After 97 I eased down on promoting and started enjoying them more instead, I haven't looked back since and finally retired in 1998. I was approached and invited back into promoting in 2000 for Boyabase promotions by The Analysir & Curly Deb where we have one off events, boat parties, wine bar and club promotions, CV available on request. Our little possie always have a good time and boy can we dance, some of the garage and soulful/funky house clubs we take on the local resident dancers, we love it! In the nicest possible way of course.
We are increasing our music production at long last and The Analysir is really coming into his own with Stu from Mac-Da-Knife on production, MC Drew on vocals, down beat etc, Leon our Technical Engineer and rest of the crew and collaborators, check out our site WWW.BOYABASE.CO.UK . We have teamed up with London Carnival promotors Dazzle for some music productions. House FM and music mag RPM are moving from strength to strength and we are looking at supporting and collabarating with them, not forgetting of course the lovely DJ Blush from PushFM, the dynamic Carlos K, DJ Misty, Andy, Funkda Fog the rest of the DJ's / Promoters.
We hold our promotions and after parties across the South East of England and London. I like London and Brighton, they are probably our main areas of clubbin and they provide a contrast from each other. Brighton is laid back, funky and very friendly, London is bright lights, sophisticated, glamour and sometimes in ya face. The two provide a great variety to choose from so we are never bored or have limited choice.
I love meeting new people and introducing them to our little crowd or getting introduced to there crowd and all meeting up getting mashed and dancing our asses off for a memorable wicked night of laughs and top music. I have met so many people like this for some fantastic nights over the years, I'm not gonna stop now honey! Ok maybe I'll calm down a bit this year.
If you want to join in the fun with the rest of the crew and dance to the best in funky, soulful, latino, banging, dirty and electro house then come and join me, Analysir and Curley Deb at BOYABASE WORLD for more exclusive soulful, funky nights. We have parties from all around town coming to meet us so don't be shy come and meet new friends and have some fun, look forward to seeing you!
