Ey up, my name be Rich Jones, and me hail from the rural lands of South England, near Portsmouth. Fareham to be exact. A bit of a poo town. Anyway, i`m trying to (perhaps naively) put England back on the techno map. Now that the 'minimal' trend is practically over with, and were left with 'maximised minimal', im in my element, as i love house and warmth and soul in dance music, but i also love density, tribal elements, and futuristic sounds and the high production values this recent fad had brought with it. Minimalism has always been around in art, and for a long while in techno too, but recently the supposed minimal craze just meant more refined, clever production and groove creation, and for a while in a wholly bleepy, soulless way. Now, all sorts of influences are creeping into techno, and it is arguably the most multicultural music out there, appealing to people from every corner of the globe. Techno has become more experiemental, more inspiring, more unique and appealing to a much wider audience then older, faster techno. I think, in summary, techno mated with house, then they both made a pact to tidy up there act, really try and shine. And, consequently, right now, techno and house and all the silly micro genres inbetween are at a brilliant place, and will only get better. There is a LOT of good music out there (and even more dross of course), and i hope to contribute to that further (not the dross though!). I`ve djed since 1998, was a resident for 2 years, and love it so very much; djing is my first love, and production is just a means to further personalising my sets, ultimately.
Its all about the dancing!
