DJ Biography

At 21 Russell James is set to be a household name in years to come. He started off playing on the underground house scene in Peterborough in 2003, and has now progressed to playing main stage at some of the biggest venues in the country as well as on international waters. His confidence and self-belief have seen him touch shoulders with some of the biggest names out there.

Russell’s passion for music developed at the age of 17 where he bought his first set of decks which were a tatty pair of belt drives for £150 off a lad he was at school with. He dedicated all of his time to teaching himself to mix sometimes playing eight hours a day, striving for perfection.

After spending so much time perfecting the art, he was soon recognised as a man on a mission.
His mission: To reach out to the clubbing world and give them an experience they would never forget.

"All he wanted to do was tear apart dance floors at every given opportunity".

Russell's first big break came when he reached the final of the BBtB DJ competition at The Sanctuary in Birmingham. He already had an army of followers supporting his every move (which has been appreciated from the start). Having drawn the last set of the night, the crowd were already bouncing off the walls by the time Russell took to the decks. Unkown to them they were about to be taken to a new level that most clubbers have never experienced before, every tune bigger and better than the last, with cuts and samples being used to full effect this was a debut club set to be remembered.

There was no surprise to anybody in the room when the winner was announced; Russell James the new resident, his career had now officially begun.

His first club debut and his first residency, a very promising start for a DJ with so much energy that beamed out from behind the decks.

From that day onwards Russell’s style has matured, developed and grown into something extraordinary with tuff jackin’ twisted house beats with an electro vibe giving his sets real back bone, amazing every dance floor he has played to.
