A bit about SPYDA-MC

hoo hoo i go by the name of mc spyda otherwise known as dave, i fucking luv hardcore i seriously cant get enough of it i cant believe i was a d n b head, what was i missing. n e way thanks to the originators of the hsbc crew i have finally seen the light and become A HARDCORE RAVER!!!!!!

started mcing when i was about 15 when i met a few lads from the same estate as me and they invited me for a mix up around my mates dj raw's house, as soon as i heard the tunes playing out on the decks i heard a voice on the mic who was my mate snipers, i watched and pretty much studied him for the whole night and from that point i knew thats what i wanted to do, become an mc.

from then on i would write down 8 bars every day and make sure that even if they wernt that good i had a new one to learn and spit to the guys, i can actually remember telling a customer to wait when i was working on the tills in sainsburies one night so i could finish of this lyric,

after a good year of pratice at house parties and things i managed to get more and more confident with crowds and learnt how to deal with good and bad critsism, whe i turned 17 i remember going up the theatre district i mk with my mates and got talking to a bloke at the bar who said his mate was running a drum and bass night in a few weeks, i new i had to meet the guy and try to show him what i could do. luckily for me his mate was upstairs, so we got introduced and he asked me to spit a few lines in his ear, so i did and he thought i was pretty decant so he booked me, nice one bruva my first set infront of a alright size crowd.

i can remember standing on the stage with my dj raw who was trying his hardest to give me confidence boosts, as i was propa nervous. Anyway i started mcing and the crowd seemed to like it from then on i just thought you no what im gonna do my thing, if people like it thats great but if not that gives me something to work on.

I done a few sets at the same night and met the sound engineer who said about a internet radio he runs with a few other people and if i wanted to come down and have a chat, obviously i did! from then i met semeye, wedge, mc enigma and mc hienzy now these are a few names you need to watch out for in the d and b scene these guys no how to smash it. eventually after a few shows on radio we got to get to no each other and they invited me to mc at there event called abstract normality, this is were i made my name in mk.

i got spotted at one of there events by a promoter of a night called deadly fusion witch was the biggest d n b nights in mk at the time, all the up and comers wanted a shot on the mic there and luckily enough for me i got that chance. bingo! all the bad crowds and events i had emceed at right from the begining and all the house parties i had missioned across mk to chat at had all made up for this night, it was all about showing mk what i had and what i could bring to the scene,
the set went down a storm and i got offered residency at the event witch was a pretty big thing for me. unfortunetly the event got cancelled at the venue and was no longer, after that i didnt really get any other offers and stopped talking to the promoters as nothing was going on with there event. they have now started up the event again in a new venue and i didnt get a call from them to go back on.

this is when i found hardcore! omg the music opened my eyes to what i was missing.
i have been hardcore raving since i was 17 to 18 and am loving every minute of it, over the last 6 months i have got to no the ravers dj's and mc's in the scene and i must say your all fucking wicked!

The first hardcore set i have had was whos hardcore on the 27th april and damn did we smash that night propa looking forward to getting on a few more mics and showing the hardcore scene a bit of spyda carnige, im currently working with a producer to bring out a tune on vinyl which should be sorted by june 2007 and am looking forward to going on radio in brum with almighty static, macca and nailz these 3 guys are making a big impact on the scene right now and definetly need to be watched out for, also must make a mention to the dj diggidy asphy gonna smash it with the greats.
