Stacey Kitson, or Stace as she prefers to be known, has been both interested and involved with music from an early age. Whilst being raised in Wales she began to play the flute, closely followed by the piano, at the age of 8. She quickly showed promise and skill reaching grade 8 in both, aged 12 and 15 respectively.
Stace naturally enough progressed into musical theatre, gaining recognition both in school productions and also at the National Youth Theatre, which she joined aged 17 and went on to tour with for two years, taking in noted venues and events including the Edinburgh festival, the Royal Opera house and even Blue Peter.
The new Millennium saw Stace move to London to attend the London College of Music and Media where academically she gained a BMus Performance Degree; but perhaps more tellingly met a number of like minded musicians and people involved with music including Pablo, promoter of London's premier trance night, Knowwhere.
Through her working as part of Knowwhere's crew she met Anthony Dean, A Knowwhere resident who was looking for a vocalist. She went on to become involved with Anthony Dean Live, both writing her own vocals and performing live P.A's at Menthol, Addiction, Cancer Bacup as well as Knowwhere.
Knowwhere were joined by highly respected DJ Adam White as a resident and in collaboration Adam and Stace went on to release ‘Pearl River 2005' : it proved to be a taste of things to come.
Since that point Stace has gone on to write and perform on productions for some of the best up and coming talent in the dance music scene as well as industry goliaths, including Andy McCall, Tim Davison, Kuffdam & Plant, Adrenalin Department, Vandal, Technikal and BK; covering genres as diverse as Hard Dance, Trance, Breaks and Progressive House. Carl Nicholson was so taken with her voice, that he asked her to be the resident vocalist on his new label, “Presence Recordings”.
Stace's voice, often described as sending shivers down your spine, has a versatility that ranges from being very bluesy/jazzy/gritty in the lower reaches up to euphoric in the higher planes. It truly is a huge voice for one so small.
Away from Dance music Stace still pursues various other musical interests, including being the vocalist for The Arabada Collective, as well as being involved with collaborations with producers in Jazz, Indie, Rock, Pop, and her long time love, Trip Hop, proving herself far from a one trick pony.
