Hi, I'm AL.
I got into dance music quite late in my musical career.
Initially trance, at places like The Gallery and then tribal house and progressive with Steve Lawler's DEEP SOUTH night at home in Leicester Square (the passing of which I still mourn).
In 2001, I found my spiritual home at Bedrock at the The Beach in Brighton, where I found the music that I'd always dreamed about, but never knew existed. For the next few years I was a regular at both Brighton and London Bedrock nights, until it all finally sputtered out of existence in 2004 (save for a few one-off parties).
In December 2005, feeling like we were still missing a crucial part of our lives, a group in Brighton decided to re-vitalise that community and start a night, Bed1 , just for ourselves, our friends and for whoever wants to join us at the BN One bar in Brighton.
I've been lucky enough to play at most of those nights.
You can join us, any first Friday of any month, for a warm very friendly atmosphere, overlooking Brighton Beach, playing progressive house, tech-house and minimal techno.
Admission's free. And the bar will stay open as long as people are buying drinks.
I also get to Fabric, Twisted Audio and Twisted Melon, whenever I can and try and make as many of Danny Howells' Dig Deeper nights at The End. (And I still get to The Gallery once in a while, just for old times' sake).
Stay lucky
ALx
