I'm thom, i'm a dj from folkestone in kent. Here's a brief history if you can be arsed to read it: Well, i've been dj-ing since quite an early age, used to play at my mates parties from as young as 14. At this point, there was no actual mixing involved, but the passion was there. In the year 2000, at the age of 16, i moved into my current city of residence - folkestone , which left me without any dj-ing opportunities. I studied a music technology course at college for two years, and met some great people over the course of that time. After a few years of living in folkestone and hanging around with my brother, i was introduced to various friends of his who were djs, and that's when i became interested in doing it myself again, only this time properly with vinyl & mixing & that. So i started to buy a few records, from all different genres i love. I didn't want to limit myself to one sound, i like too many styles of music to do so. The collection grew, luckily my brother bought some technics and thanks to the people i was associating with i was given opportunities to play at a few house parties and not long after, some local bars. At this point i was mostly playing funky house (there was a lot about at the time, it was also of a much higher calibre of what is around at the moment!). Through my growing enthusiasm for dj-ing i managed to get my college friend at the time Tim interested, who is now doing very well for himself. By the end of 2004 i had a weekly residency at a local bar (the earl grey). In 2005, i started working in 'The Chambers', a bar in the center of fokestone. Inevitably, i started dj-ing there regulary and the feedback i was getting from my nights spurred me on. That said, even if i wasn't playing out i'd probably still buy the records. 2006 saw more nights at chambers, a residency in ashford for the fantastic (sadly now defunct) 'Robot' night, private functions at bar vasa and others, more house parties, even a gig on the beach (soundwaves) in the summer. By this point my sound was veering more towards the electro side of house and breakbeat sounds, it was a natural progression and both these scenes were growing tremendously. Up to the present day, and i'm associated with lots of other local djs, still loving the music, still buying vinyl, and taking any opportunity i'm given. Big shout out to everyone who has helped me on my journey so far - mainly My Bro, TG (Tim), Tactical (Ben), Steve-O, Joby, Alien FM (Dave), Chris (Boss), The Safebreakaz, and all the rest of you, you know who you are.
